An IL 501(c)3 dedicated to helping children & young adults with disabilities reach their potential.

The mission of the Center for Independence is to help children and young adults with disabilities achieve their highest level of independence in the home, school, community and workforce. We provide therapy programs that develop life skills and motor function in a manner that promotes positive self-reliance, self-esteem and an “I Can!” attitude. Committed to breaking down barriers to the workforce, the Center also provides job linkage and placement for young adults with disabilities through our innovative program, Working Together Chicago.

Turkey Bowl 2026 is more than a competition — it’s a community showing up with heart.

On Sunday, February 1st at 11:30am, Hawthorne’s Backyard in West Chicago turns friendly rivalry into real impact as we bowl to benefit the Center for Independence. Your participation helps children and young adults with cerebral palsy and other motor challenges receive life-changing therapy — keeping care accessible and affordable.

Roll for bragging rights. Bowl for something bigger.

We’re excited to share a fundraising event that we are lucky to be chosen as the beneficiary this year.

On Sunday, February 1st, starting at 11:30 AM, at Hawthorne’s Backyard, in West Chicago, they will be hosting their annual Turkey Bowling event—turning a parking lot into an outdoor bowling alley where teams knock down pins using frozen turkeys. Yes, really! 🦃🎳

A chance to raise meaningful funds for CFI programs
