RFK Jr. says he ordered the CDC to change its website to hint at a vaccine–autism link.
That is extraordinarily unusual for a Health and Human Services Secretary, and it’s not how gold-standard science works.

Here’s why this matters:

1️⃣ The science hasn’t changed.
Decades of large, well-designed studies involving millions of children show no causal link between vaccines and autism. This is one of the most thoroughly investigated questions in public health.

2️⃣ What did change?
RFK Jr. admits he personally directed the CDC to edit its site to introduce doubt and suggest “ignored studies.” That’s political interference, not scientific discovery. Public health agencies are supposed to follow evidence, not ideology.

3️⃣ This move adds confusion, not clarity.
Parents deserve honest, evidence-based information. Sudden shifts in official messaging without new data erode trust and create unnecessary fear, especially for families with young children or are already navigating autism.

4️⃣ Public health depends on accuracy.
If a government official can rewrite settled science with the stroke of a pen, that’s not transparency, it’s manipulation. Vaccine misinformation has real consequences: lower immunization rates and higher risk of outbreaks.

Bottom line:
Vaccines do not cause autism. The evidence is overwhelming. What we’re seeing now is not a scientific update, it’s a political one.

Let’s keep the conversation grounded in actual data, not fear or agenda.

AAP President Dr. Susan J. Kressly responds to the recent changes on the CDC’s website - “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has been changed to promote false information suggesting vaccines cause autism. Since 1998, independent researchers across seven countries have conducted more than 40 high-quality studies involving over 5.6 million people. The conclusion is clear and unambiguous: There’s no link between vaccines and autism. Anyone repeating this harmful myth is misinformed or intentionally trying to mislead parents.

We call on the CDC to stop wasting government resources to amplify false claims that sow doubt in one of the best tools we have to keep children healthy and thriving: routine immunizations. The American Academy of Pediatrics stands with members of the autism community who have asked for support in stopping this rumor from spreading any further."
