🌟 Physician Spotlight: Dr. George W. Byram III 🌟

Dr. George W. Byram III is a dedicated orthopaedic and sports medicine specialist committed to providing exceptional care to the Shreveport-Bossier community. His advanced expertise, honed through a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship, allows him to bring a comprehensive and modern approach to treating athletes and active individuals of all ages. He is a valued member of the Highland Clinic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine team.

Dr. Byram completed his medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport after graduating summa cm laude with a Bachelor of Science from LSU in Baton Rouge. Following his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for the Medical Sciences, he further specialized with a fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center and the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine. Dr. Byram is passionate about giving back to his community and serves as a team physician for numerous local schools, including Captain Shreve, Evangel, Haughton, Loyola, North DeSoto, and Parkway High Schools. He has also been involved in a medical mission trip to Nicaragua and volunteered at the Hurricane Katrina relief triage center.

He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

🌟 Physician Spotlight: Timothy W. Talbert, M.D. 🌟

Dr. Timothy W. Talbert is an orthopaedic surgeon at Highland Clinic with over 22 years of experience serving the Ark-La-Tex region. He specializes in hip and knee reconstructive surgery and shoulder and knee arthroscopy.

A native of Northern Louisiana, he completed his medical education and residency in orthopaedics at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He and his wife have two sons and a daughter. Dr. Talbert is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (fAAOS), a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). His hospital affiliations include Highland Hospital, University Health Hospital, and the VA Medical Center.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Talbert is committed to surgical education and international medical service. He serves as a team physician for local high schools, including Captain Shreve, Evangel, Haughton, Loyola, North DeSoto, and Parkway. He also leads medical missions to provide surgical care in underserved communities, with his most recent mission to Honduras in June 2025. This work is supported by organizations such as CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System and Stryker Orthopaedics.

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Carlton G. Houtz, M.D. 🌟

Dr. Carlton Houtz is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, and elbow. As a member of the Highland Clinic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine team, he brings extensive experience in treating sports injuries in athletes of all ages.

A graduate of Louisiana State University and LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Dr. Houtz completed his orthopaedic residency training in Orlando and Brooklyn. He then pursued a specialized sports medicine fellowship at Methodist Baylor Hospital Systems in Houston. During this fellowship, he gained invaluable experience as an assistant team physician for professional and collegiate teams, including the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, Houston Dynamo, and Rice University athletics.

Dr. Houtz is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He also serves as a team physician for numerous local schools and Bossier Parish Community College.
