đź’ˇ Heel Pain & Rheumatoid Arthritis: What You Should Know
Did you know that up to 90% of people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) experience foot or heel pain? One common cause is Plantar Fasciitis, a painful inflammation of the arch of the foot—and RA can make you more vulnerable to it.
Here’s what to watch for:
✅ Heel pain that’s worst in the morning
âś… Swelling, redness, or tenderness on the bottom of the foot
âś… Pain that eases with movement, but returns later
âś… Limping or difficulty walking
Because RA affects joints and soft tissues, it can weaken foot structures and make conditions like Plantar Fasciitis, bunions, and hammer toes more likely.
The good news? Relief is possible.
✔️ Use orthotics to support your arch and cushion your heel
✔️ Try heel wraps, ice therapy, and gentle stretching
✔️ Rest when you can and consider night splints for extra support
✔️ Talk to your doctor about pain relief options like NSAIDs
