”And so we step into May Day also know as Beltane.
The day when nature is celebrated for being in her fullness; fertile and unfurling.
A passion is evoked in the air as the sun and earth wrap each other in their arms and create life. A great surge of spring is being birthed in hedgerows, forests and hillsides, colours are emerging more vibrant and beautiful than before, bees are buzzing and the song of birds seems to be amplified across the valleys.
The days are now lengthening and the forest is adorning itself in a beautiful array of greens.
We are now stepping through the gateway into the lighter sunnier part of the Celtic year.
This doorway or gateway of homecoming was always believed to be represented by the strong Oak; king of the forest, sun tree, home to many in the forest and a great protector.
This is a time to step over this threshold, through the gateway and into the light.
As you step into this day ponder as to what is needed to be laid aside, to be put down, to be grieved over so you can step forth more fully. This was and is a day that is used to make vows to yourself, to how you would like to look after yourself, come home to yourself and greet yourself back; from the darker times, into your own arms and the beauty of nature.”
