Free Diabetes Education Class – Open to the Community
We are partnering with Piedmont Newton Hospital to bring you a free class designed to help you better understand and manage diabetes. Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed or have been managing it for years, this one-hour class will give you practical tools to take charge of your health.
You’ll learn:
• The basics of diabetes management
• How nutrition affects blood sugar
• Healthy food demonstrations (with snacks!)
• Tips for managing insulin and medications
• Where to find free or low-cost community resources

At BD, we believe advancing the world of health starts in our communities. With funding from the BD Community Investment Fund, Open Hand Atlanta and Willing Helpers Medical Clinic in Covington, Ga. provided 12 weeks of medically tailored meals and nutrition counseling for individuals living with diabetes. The impact speaks for volumes: 1,372 meals delivered and participants' average A1c levels dropping from 9.9% to 8.2%. We are proud to partner with organizations like Open Hand Atlanta and Willing Helpers that are expanding access to health resources for those who need them most in our Georgia community.

Georgia Medicaid changes could make dental care even harder to access for families who need it most.
The Times-Herald recently warned that cuts often start with dental benefits—leaving adults in pain and at risk for serious health problems.

These are direct quotes from patients we treated earlier this month at our mobile dental clinic. People in our own community are living with pain, infections, and broken teeth because they cannot afford care. Some traveled hours for help, others lined up early in the morning hoping for relief, and many are now waiting for the day our permanent dental clinic opens.

The need is urgent. Adults without dental care are suffering daily, and the cost to get treatment privately is out of reach. Our clinic will make free dental care a reality right here in Covington, giving patients dignity, health, and hope for the future.
