The St. Being a parent is a challenge. Sometimes you can use a little help, and the Parenting Center is ready for you.

Tammany Parish Hospital Parenting Center promotes confidence and competence in parenting, encourages optimal child development, and enhances the well-being of the family as a whole! Some people with young children utilize the center to help their children socialize with others without experiencing the trauma of separation anxiety. Some families utilize the center as a support system to help validate the very difficult job of parenting. This also gives them the opportunity to observe that many of the behaviors of their children are normal! For parents who are juggling more than one child, our programs give parents an opportunity to share individual quality time with each. As parents, it is nice to learn how other parents deal with the same challenges. Parents and caregivers may take advantage of the many programs that are offered to the community that deal with a variety of parenting issues. The Parenting Center is not just for parents with problems. The center is for parents who want to build on their parenting skills while developing positive self-esteem in their children. The Parenting Center is not affiliated with planned pregnancy organizations, nor does it scrutinize anyone’s parenting skills. We are all in this learning process together! The Parenting Center is not a day care or drop-off program. Most of our activities are interactive opportunities for parents with their children.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Parenting Center Staff. As we close out the year and look forward to 2026, we wanted to share our heartfelt gratitude to all of our families, friends and partners who have supported us, utilized our center, attended one or some of our many classes and so much more.

We wanted to share some special pictures with you from our recent visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause at our yearly Holiday Cookie/Dessert Party. Everyone had a great time, and we had some awesome looking and tasting cookies!

We will be closed from December 23rd through New Years. We will reopen on January 2nd. Please look at our January calendar of events which is chocked full of our usual interactive classes, ballet and monthly birthday party. But we also have special guest speakers coming throughout the month - with one our first day back (Jan 2nd) who will share a special story on Aviation while we wear our PJ's and afterward watch Airplanes! Other special guests include Love on the Leash coming with their fur babies to be petted, Kinder-Spanish, Library Lady for Storytime and Toddler Fitness. We are also excited to offer two very important classes to our adults - Grandparents; Getting Started and Nutrition in the First 1000 Days (please see the calendar for full details).

And finally, we wanted to remind you that sometime in the New Year (early spring), the Parenting Center will be moving to our new location on Koop Drive. So please bear with us as we may have to cancel and reschedule some of our events/classes and possibly close our doors in order to move. We don't have a set date, but when we know you will know.

Did you know that the St. Tammany Parenting Center is moving sometime in spring 2026 to Koop Drive campus? The move will bring the Parenting Center closer to families across the parish and expand its reach in a community that has embraced it for decades.

In the meantime, families can take advantage of the center’s year-end membership drive, with a reduced rate of $150 per family through the end of December. (The regular annual rate is $180.)
To take advantage of this discounted membership rate, please go to www.sttammany.health and scroll to the bottom of the page and select either December Parenting Center Yearly Membership or January Parenting Center Yearly Membership tile to lock in your discounted rate of $150. It also makes a great Christmas present for a relative or friend!!

Also don't forget to come to our current Parenting Center location (71338 Hwy 21, Covington) on Friday, Dec 19th for our annual Holiday Cookie Party with special guests of Santa and Mrs. Clause who will attend to say hi and allow for photo opportunities. The fun starts at 10:30am.
