The Giving Goose

The Giving Goose Making a difference in the childhood cancer community and spreading awareness about pediatric cancers. Hello and welcome to The Giving Goose!

We are a husband and wife team trying to bring more awareness to childhood cancer community, and funding for research to help find cures for these diseases. Our daughter was diagnosed in September of 2015 with AT/RT (a type of brain cancer and at the time she was only 15 months old), and after fighting for a year she has been in remission since August of 2016. We created The Giving Goose because we personally had such an out pouring of support and help during our journey that we only felt it right in our hearts to find a way to give back to the childhood cancer community. Outside of trying to help with spreading more awareness and raising funding for childhood cancer research, we hope to connect with other families and individuals to give them the emotional support they need. No one should ever walk this journey alone, and we are here for you to lean on. We hope that our organization is able to have an impact in your lives, and you join us in this movement of giving back to others fighting this unfortunate battle. We want to thank you in advance for taking the time to visit our page. Please take one more minute to share our link, you never know who will see it and need the support. Thank you for helping us make a difference!

This is what cancer looks like…..
Our poor girl has been throwing up and nauseous all night. She was only able to get 1/3 of her oral chemo meds down last night. Waking up this morning, doctors informed me that the best thing for her would be an NG tube. This was mentioned weeks ago when she wasn’t eating, but she’s eating now. She’s worked so hard to taking her meds, but couldn’t keep them down yesterday. I said the problem is she’s nauseous, and if we can get that under control, she can go back to her oral meds. Ultimately, the NG tube would avoid her having to take her oral meds. They took her back about 45 mins ago, to do the LP with chemo, change her port needle and place the NG tube. She was very nervous and in tears. Please keep her in your thoughts today. We were not expecting things to go this way, but here we are. I feel defeated!

“Fighting for……. (Fill in the blank)!!”

Those names above are only a FEW of our local kids who are currently undergoing treatment, in remission, or have lost their fight to childhood cancers. I could honestly name so many more.

Do NOT think for one second this is rare!

🩸I went to a blood drive for a local little girl who’s currently battling cancer and in a huge need for platelets! Blood is ALWAYS needed. Took my crew along for them to experience. Not sure how they felt about watching, haha, but it was a great teaching moment for them.

If you’re local to the Covington, LA area… please consider giving blood 🩸

July is Sarcoma and Bone Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re honored to share the inspiring story of Carolyn. At just four years old, Carolyn was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a tumor the size of a grapefruit causing her immense pain. Over the course of a year, she faced multiple surgeries, including tumor removal, the resection of ribs, diaphragm, liver, and more. Despite these immense challenges, Carolyn is here today as a survivor, almost ten years cancer-free and leads the Rally Club at her high school! 💛💪
