No more Yoga for Connection classes at Indigo Tie Dye Company, starting immediately. We've known this day would come as soon as we found out about Indigo's relocation to Broken Arrow. I want to thank Shelby again for her generosity in letting me host my class there for the past few months. It's been very cool.

I'm still trying to work out what my next step is for public classes; but in the meantime, I'm available for privates and small group sessions. Details are on my website! Thanks, all.

Donna Farhi hits with this one. I've never been able to articulate it in the same way – the way that recognizes the threshold that can be cultivated, the one that sustains us and steadies us. Thank God for it. Life is hard sometimes.

First of all, can I just say how tempting it was to put a filter on this…ha! They make it so easy. But I didn’t. I think it’s important that we tone that down a bit as a society. Anywayyy…

Here’s a bit of info on my reoccurring Wednesday night class at Indigo Tie Dye. 6:30pm. Thanks for tuning in! 🤍

Everything changes. The world today is not the same as it was yesterday or an hour ago or even a moment ago. This is for sure one of the hardest things for us humans to deal with. We want the perfect moment to last and last. We attempt to recreate these moments using all the means at our disposal.

I do it. And when I act from this place, I’m always left disappointed. I’m always left wanting something I don’t have – usually a feeling.

If recent years and even this last month have taught me anything, it’s that change is always happening. What is special about today may be different tomorrow and the worst thing I can do for myself tomorrow is get caught up wishing for today.

Conventional wisdom from many of the great yoga teachers encourage us to develop some kind of ritual before we teach a class or meet with a student. This ritual should be something that centers us, grounds us, and helps us feel present before we step into the teaching role.

These days, my ritual looks like waiting for Dad to get home so I can bounce 😆

In keeping with our theme of citta, and recognizing how external stimuli effects our internal experience, Rolf Gates reminds us to turn in, to shed what is heavy and ill-fitting, and to recognize that our inner wisdom guides us and sustains us. We have everything we need already.

The yoga principle of citta, as expressed in The Yoga Sūtras, refers to the heart-mind field of consciousness. What it means is that the way we experience the world and ourselves is based on a blending of our heart and our mind. The combined perception of what your heart feels, and has felt, along with what your mind processes to be true at a given time, is the place from which your behavior stems. It is the container that houses your experience.

A consistent practice of yoga nudges our citta, our heart-mind, to see things more clearly. We become more aware of the actions, people, and events that shaped our past and that envelop our present moment. We are then able to better discern between the external stimuli that move us toward or away from how we wish to engage with and experience our world and ourselves.

This month, as we move out of the doldrums of winter that often create a general feeling of heaviness and encourage a clogging effect (physically, mentally, and emotionally), may we take stock of what might be influencing our current citta state and begin a process of cleaning the container.

I’m a mile high today, friends!

No Yoga for Connection tonight. We’ll pick back up next week!

In the meantime, I’d like to share my mantra for making my way up the snowy mountains so I may go down them. Ahem,

Be brave and the fun will find you!

I’m a big huge scaredy pants, which is why I’m so grateful for my family who always challenge me to suck it up so I can enjoy this amazing experience.

Much love and t**s up! Did I say t**s up? I meant tips up. 😏🏂⛷

Okay friends, no class tonight due to the weather. No class next week due to I have a date with the snowy mountains. I’m sad we had to cancel so much this month, but we’ll be back at it on March 9th with only consistency on the horizon! Peace and love 🤍✌🏼🤍

Each month, I will introduce a new theme to support our Yoga for Connection classes. The theme helps me as a teacher ground our practice with intention. Intention is a big deal in yoga. When we learn to get clear on what we’re hoping to gain, let go of, embody, etc., we support ourselves in that endeavor. And usually, the Universe starts to support us as well.

That’s one of the big takeaways of the yogic message of atha. Atha is a Sanskrit word that implies readiness and commitment, and it is one of the key principles of the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali. In The Sūtras, atha pertains specifically to when a student of yoga begins their journey of yoga; which really means, to begin the study of who we are, how we are connected to a greater whole, and what steps we can take to move toward more balance within ourselves and as a part of the ecosystem in which we live.

Beginnings are a symbol of desire. They tell us that we are ready for change – and any step in the direction of the changes we seek, no matter how incremental, reflect our commitment to our innermost desires.

So let's begin, y'all. We can begin together!

Our first gathering is tonight at Indigo Tie Dye Company on Main Street in Coweta. Join us! Class starts at 6:30pm. $10, cash or Venmo. Bring a mat if you have one. I’ll have some extras.
