Each month, I will introduce a new theme to support our Yoga for Connection classes. The theme helps me as a teacher ground our practice with intention. Intention is a big deal in yoga. When we learn to get clear on what we’re hoping to gain, let go of, embody, etc., we support ourselves in that endeavor. And usually, the Universe starts to support us as well.
That’s one of the big takeaways of the yogic message of atha. Atha is a Sanskrit word that implies readiness and commitment, and it is one of the key principles of the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali. In The Sūtras, atha pertains specifically to when a student of yoga begins their journey of yoga; which really means, to begin the study of who we are, how we are connected to a greater whole, and what steps we can take to move toward more balance within ourselves and as a part of the ecosystem in which we live.
Beginnings are a symbol of desire. They tell us that we are ready for change – and any step in the direction of the changes we seek, no matter how incremental, reflect our commitment to our innermost desires.
So let's begin, y'all. We can begin together!
Our first gathering is tonight at Indigo Tie Dye Company on Main Street in Coweta. Join us! Class starts at 6:30pm. $10, cash or Venmo. Bring a mat if you have one. I’ll have some extras.
