Our hearts are with the victims, their families and all who are affected by Monday's deadly explosion in Clairton, Pennsylvania.

Vitalant sent 90 additional units of blood products to several hospitals treating the victims and we are prepared to send more support if requested. It is important to remember the blood donated in the days and weeks prior to an emergency is what helps save lives.

We recognize those who generously wish to show support in a tragedy by giving blood. Vitalant encourages those who are so moved to schedule an appointment in the coming days or weeks at vitalant.org.

Four heart surgeries, dozens of transfusions, one brave little fighter.

At just 4 years old, Valerio has faced more than many do in a lifetime. Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, he’s needed over two dozen blood transfusions to keep his little heart strong.

Every transfusion gave Valerio strength to heal, play, and just be a kid. Because of blood donors, he’s smiling, laughing, and thriving today.

🎉 Big news! Please join us in congratulating Bob Keane on his promotion to Executive Director of Vitalant’s Pittsburgh and Cleveland region.

With more than 23 years of experience, Bob began his career as a phlebotomist and has taken on roles across donor care, business operations, and planning and scheduling. He brings a deep understanding of the work, a passion for community, and a strong commitment to our mission. He’s also known for his love of music, Steelers football, and being a proud girl dad.

We’re excited to welcome Bob into this new leadership role.
