This MRI Safety Week, meet our dedicated MRI Safety Officers (MRSO), Andrew Somma, and Adriana Navarro who are both certified as MRI technicians and MRI Safety Officers by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). They work hand in hand with the MRI MD’s for issues stemming from all 24 URG Offices. They maintain MRI ACR accreditation across all offices

MRSO is a specialized role focused on ensuring the safe operation of our MRI facilities. They develop and enforce safety protocols, educate staff, and monitor compliance with regulations to prevent accidents and protect patients and staff. Their responsibilities include hazard assessment, risk mitigation, and ensuring proper training and procedures are in place.

MRI is a powerful diagnostic tool — and at University Radiology, our team of experts have the protocols in place to ensure safety is our priority.

Meet our own Dr. Alex Rozenberg, one of our Magnetic Resonance Medical Directors, who provide clinical to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff:

I'm a musculoskeletal (MSK) radiologist—a subspecialty of radiology focused on the complex and detailed anatomy of bones, joints, and soft tissues.

MRI is the workhorse of MSK radiology and is the most frequently used high tech imaging that helps us diagnose a wide range of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. Although MRI provides incredibly detailed and high quality images, the powerful magnets can be risky.

Our strict protocols keep you safe from metal mishaps, ensure implant compatibility, and protect against hearing damage. Your well-being, both in and out of the MRI room, is our top priority!

It’s MRI Safety Week! We are proud to join in showing our commitment to patient safety and injury prevention in every MRI procedure we perform.

Our MRI safety program is led by a dedicated team of certified experts who ensure that safety is always top priority:

Our Magnetic Resonance Medical Directors (MRMD), A. Ross Sussmann, M.D., and Alex Rozenberg, M.D., are board certified by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). They provide clinical oversight, optimize imaging protocols, and work closely with our MRI safety officers to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.

🌍Our teams have been celebrating the richness of our heritage in one of the most joyful ways—through food! 🍽️

At our East Brunswick and Elizabeth locations, staff brought in homemade dishes representing a beautiful tapestry of cultures: Egyptian, Colombian, Ukrainian/Polish/Russian, French, Irish, Puerto Rican, Spanish/Portuguese, Italian, Indian, Jewish, and German.

What an incredible (and delicious!) way to share our stories, connect with one another, and celebrate the diversity that makes us better—together. 💜

Our advanced imaging health screenings can help catch diseases early, when they are most treatable. CT Cardiac Calcium Scoring is a non-invasive, pain-free test uses a low-dose CT scan to measure the amount of calcium in your arteries. A high calcium score can be a sign of coronary artery disease, a leading cause of heart attack and stroke.

Talk to your doctor about whether you should have an advanced imaging health screening. To learn more about Mens Health Screenings visit https://mailchi.mp/universityradiology/menshealth2025
