Looking back on after returning from a very eventful and productive few days in Chicago. Spending time with former co-residents, celebrating Rutgers’ Dr. Craig Hirschberg being sworn in as the new AAE President, investing in new and exciting technologies for the office, and learning from some of the best minds in the specialty made the trip one to remember. Already looking forward to AAE 2024 in Los Angeles!

This tooth #14 made for a fun , previously initiated/SAP, single visit treatment. All canals were prepped to 25/.04. It’s always worth the energy to fully instrument the MB2 in case it has a separate portal of exit than the MB, like seen here.

This was a case that was all about tactility to locate a deep apical split in a lower premolar, in the absence of a CBCT. This female patient presented with cold sensitivity on #29 following deep decay removal and temporary crown placement by her GP. The pre-op and CaOH2 radiographs suggested that a deep apical split might be present, but it was impossible to tell under the microscope. The patient returned for obturation three weeks after starting treatment, but still had slight percussion tenderness despite being out of occlusion, so a CBCT was planned if a deep split couldn’t be found or treated. Scouting with small hand files towards the lingual helped with tracking down the lingual canal that wasn’t found at the initial visit. Injected BC HiFlow sealer before WVC with Vortex Blue 25/.04 GP in each canal.

Earlier today, the American Dental Association sent a follow-up message advising that dentists should only treat patients with true dental emergencies over the next 3 weeks. Please read to see if what you have qualifies as a true dental emergency, or at least a “5 or more out of 10” on the pain scale. We will continue to treat patients with emergent pain for the foreseeable future. Please call us at 908-276-7773 with any questions or concerns! @ Cranford Endodontics
