We are thrilled to congratulate our incredible Project Swaddle Nurse, Carlin Traylor, on earning her Certified Lactation Counselor credential through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice!

This achievement reflects months of dedication, extensive coursework, and a deep commitment to supporting families with evidence-based lactation education and care. With this certification, Carlin is now able to provide comprehensive, evidence-based support to our Project Swaddle families, including prenatal breastfeeding counseling and postpartum troubleshooting. From preparing parents before baby arrives to helping navigate feeding challenges after delivery, Carlin’s expertise will make a meaningful difference for the families we serve.

We could not be prouder of Carlin and her commitment to growing her knowledge to better support our community. Please join us in celebrating this outstanding accomplishment!

At Project Swaddle, maternal mental health is part of every conversation. Through home visits, education, screening, and connection to local resources, we’re working to ensure moms in our community feel supported during pregnancy and beyond. No mother should feel alone. 💙

Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day

Maternal mental health affects millions of women and families worldwide - yet too many still suffer in silence

This year, we’re calling on everyone to ACT:

A – Acknowledge
See the reality. Behind every statistic is a mother, a baby, a family

C – Consider
What more can be done? In our systems, workplaces, and communities

T – Treat
Mental health with the same urgency as physical health—during pregnancy and beyond

Because:
• 1 in 5 women are affected
• Early support changes lives
• No mother should feel alone

Keep sharing. Keep talking. Keep breaking the silence

Tag us in your posts and stories so we can amplify your voice and the change you’re driving

How will you ACT?

We would like to say THANK YOU to all of our 2025 donors! Donor breast milk can reduce the risk of life-threatening infections in premature babies. Because of you, approximately 2,706 feedings were provided to the tiniest NICU babies across Indiana last year. The more donations we receive, the more NICU babies we get to see come home! If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming a donor, visit https://www.themilkbank.org/donate-milk/

We’re proud to share an exciting step forward for Montgomery County!

Since January 2025, a collaboration between law enforcement, Integrative Wellness, and local mental health agencies and partners have been working to build a stronger response for individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Led by co-chairs Chief of Police Aaron Mattingly and Lynette Clark of Integrative Wellness, we’re thrilled to announce the first-ever Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training for Montgomery County!

These partnerships are crucial in better serving those with mental health disorders, and we’re excited to continue strengthening our community’s response together.

The Montgomery County Crisis Intervention Team is offering free training to become a certified CIT specialist through a 40-hour, week-long program that will be held for the first time later this …

This year, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recognises Maternal Health Awareness Day with the theme "Holding Ground on Maternal Health," emphasizing the importance of sustained, community-based efforts to protect mothers and babies.

Through our MIH program, Project Swaddle, we work to help prevent maternal and infant deaths and improve outcomes by connecting high-risk mothers and babies with ongoing, high-quality care, education, and support during pregnancy and after delivery.

MIH also facilitates the Montgomery County Maternal and Child Health Coalition, bringing community partners together to strengthen and coordinate local services. This includes participation in the county's Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) and leading efforts to help prevent future losses.

As we take a short break this December from our monthly Milk Bank "Did You Know" posts, our staff at Crawfordsville MIH would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and generous donations to our Milk Depot! We understand that when you donate human milk, you are also giving the time and resources needed to pump, safely store, and deliver donations to our location. We couldn't make a difference in the lives of our tiniest Hoosiers without you! Stay tuned next month as we kick off some more "Did You Know" topics in 2026.
