PRESS RELEASE 12.05.2023
Hope’s Voice Announces first state funded Sexual Assault Award
As of 1/1/2024 Hope’s Voice will expand to include the prevention of sexual violence in Knox and Daviess Counties while dually implementing a new position dedicated to sexual assault response. Upon award of the SAVAF dollars, managed by ICJI, Hope’s Voice will shift focus to being credentialed as a R**e Crisis Center in both counties over the next two years. The award for $269,000 over two years will be managed by newly named Project Manager, Misty McNeely, and Director of Operations at Hope’s Voice, Kelsey Carr. Carr and McNeely have served CFS and their communities as legal advocates, criminal justice experts, and credentialed prevention professionals for over four years. It is the intent of the funding to educate and promote violence prevention across Knox and Daviess counties with widespread information campaigns, evidence-based material creation, and information dissemination all with an eye for health equity development across the diversifying populations in Knox and Daviess counties. Kelsey Carr, a program designer by trade, created the widespread prevention interventions for the award after significant success in piloting the health promotion campaigns at North and South Knox schools for the last four years. Resources will be disseminated across Knox and Daviess counties throughout various outlets, all modeled from the CDC’s technical packages made to reduce violence in communities. As for the development of R**e Crisis Centers – Hope’s Voice intends to meet the standards as outlined by the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking (ICESAHT) within the following year and update community members throughout the process as service deliverables improve. The funding allows for survivors of sexual assault to access housing resources, wraparound case management services, and assistance with mental health care. Since COVD-19 rates of intrapersonal violence and sexual assaults continue to increase in Indiana and across the country – all while the imperative call to reduce violence environments is increasingly had. Hope’s Voice aims to continue its’ steadfast work in serving its clients wholly and moving towards safer communities for all. If anyone is in need of services related to experiences including violence please reach out to Hope’s Voice 24/7 Hotline at 812-899-HOPE (4673).
