"Kelsey made me laugh. She made it fun. She made me feel better. Laughing brings blood pressure down and that's what she did.

"Kelsey and I walked around the complex about seven or eight times, and the whole time we were walking, we were laughing. We were talking about each other's life, and how God impact impacted our lives and our families and how great our families were and how much we loved our families. She just took my mind off of being in the ICU altogether, and she's a great nurse.

"She's very smart and she really cared about me. She cared about my health. She explained in detail what my wife and I need to do to keep myself healthy. She wanted me to stay on my meds and not be back in there again because of heart conditions or high blood pressure. She truly cared for me and she's a great nurse."

🌼 Our latest DAISY Award Winner is Briana Smith-Rhodes, RN, at Franciscan Health Michigan City 🌼

We’re proud to honor Briana Smith-Rhodes, RN, with the DAISY Award for her extraordinary care, compassion and commitment to her patients and their families.

One family shared how Briana cared for their father not once, but twice — first through a five week stay on our 4th floor following stroke-like symptoms, and later during a second admission after a fall.

In both cases, Briana’s dedication was unwavering, her patience unmatched and her kindness unforgettable.

Congratulations to Nevaeh Owen, scheduler with Franciscan Physician Network Indiana Heart Physicians, on being our latest Lily Award winner. 💙

Nevaeh was nominated by her manager. The nomination began with Nevaeh being “one of the hardest workers” this manager knows. The manager shared a story about an unexpected situation where Navaeh worked countless hours all the while handling with “poise and ease.”

Nevaeh discovered an issue impacting a work queue and worked many hours to correct the issue. She has identified ways to improve care in other areas as well.

“Nevaeh identified other areas of opportunity that leadership didn’t even know existed. Navaeh takes on all of this without ever complaining of feeling overwhelmed. She always has a smile on her face. She asks for things to do in her downtime. She drops what she is doing to assist a team member in need.”

“Stress isn’t always a bad thing,” said Meera Mohan, NP-C, a nurse practitioner with Franciscan Physician Network Cardiology in Dyer and Munster. “It becomes dangerous when it becomes chronic and unmanaged.”

Congratulations to Kevin Feeney, this month's Franciscan Health Central Indiana Franciscan Spirit Award Winner. Kevin, a food service associate at our Indianapolis hospital campus, shows compassion towards those he works with and our patients.

Throughout his time here, he has received multiple compliments from nursing staff and family members about how Kevin takes the extra steps when delivering patient trays. One patient said Kevin came in, set up her tray, and made sure she had what she needed. He also went up to her and gave her some encouraging words, adding "just hang in there and hopefully tomorrow is better."

It meant the world to her at that moment. A more recent great patient experience witnessed was Kevin giving away one of his meal passes to a pregnant mom and her daughter to pay for their meals. Kevin demonstrates the Franciscan Values each day that he works, and it shows when hearing from patient’s experience.

Our occupational health clinic recently expanded its services becoming the site also of the Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Clinic, which will provide health services to chamber members.
The clinic is located in the Sugar Creek Medical Building at 1704 Lafayette Road, Suite 1 in Crawfordsville. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
