Karen Sue Myers of Crawfordsville passed away on August 26, 2025 at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. She was 78.
Born on November 27, 1946 in Crawfordsville to Carl Myers and Velma Myers Higbie. Karen graduated Ladoga High School in 1964, she then went on to Ball State University and graduated with her Bachelors in 1967 and her Masters in 1972. Karen taught for 8 years at Western Boone High School and then a year at Gateway College of Evangelism. She then went on to be the Editorial Designer at World Evangelism Center.
Karen was a member of One Way Pentecostal Apostolic Church, she enjoyed playing games and reading.
Surviving family includes: sister, Ann (Darrell) Hole; and nieces, Cindy Crain, Tamara (Steven) Lee, and Darlene Jones.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Myers, and nephew Carl Myers.
Visitation will begin at 10 am until the time of service at 11 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Burkhart Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Ladoga Cemetery. Pastor Steven Lee will officiate.

Jason A. Baldwin of Lafayette passed away Monday at home. He was 46.
Jason worked at Caterpillar in Lafayette. He was a sports fan, especially the Boston Celtics and particularly Larry Bird.
Born June 16, 1979, he was the son of Steven A. Baldwin and Connie J. Pickett Baldwin. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana State University.
Surviving family includes: two children, Hunter Baldwin and Brianna Baldwin; father, Steve Baldwin; two sisters, Jennifer Ledman and Dawn Baldwin; grandmother, Patricia Baldwin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Baldwin in 1988; paternal grandfather, Lawrence Baldwin and maternal grandparents, Don and Shirley Pickett.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to Noon on Friday, Aug. 29th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at Noon. After the service, he will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North in Crawfordsville.

Dorothy Jane Coudret passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. She was 87 years old.

Dorothy graduated from Evansville Memorial High School in 1955 and attended the University of Kentucky. She worked at Mead Johnson International prior to staying home to care for her 7 children. Once her children were school age, she began working at First National Bank which later became Chase Bank. Dorothy loved caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She found happiness in the simple pleasures. She enjoyed reading on her Kindle, playing the piano and listening to her favorite music. More than anything, Dorothy cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest passion was her family, and she dedicated her life to loving and supporting them in every way.

She was born on December 7, 1937 in New Haven, Kentucky to parents, HB Allen, JR and Margaret (Greenwell) Allen. She married Kenneth W. Coudret on January 17, 1959 at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville, Indiana. They were married for 57 years. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Crawfordsville.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Ken Coudret, Jr.(Tammy), Dan Coudret, and Dave (Sherry) Coudret; 2 daughters, Jane Coudret and Mary (Michael) Scheidler; 2 daughters-in-laws, Annette Coudret and Danielle Coudret; 9 Grandchildren, Sarah (Bart), Zac (Christine), Catherine (Justin), Tori ( Dan), Carter, Patrick (Regan), Jane (Dawson), Megan (Spencer), and Kyler; 12 Great Grandchildren, Joselyn, Abby, Clark, Aubree, Aiden, Anna, Benny, David, Wyatt, Theodore, Lydia, Jackson; 1 sister, Mary Elizabeth (Joe) Elpers; and 1 brother, Richard Allen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; 2 sons, Mike and Bob; and a granddaughter, Whitney.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 1306 E Main Street in Crawfordsville from 10:00 am in the Holy Cross Room until the time of the Mass in the Sanctuary at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Montgomery County Community Foundation, PO Box 334, Crawfordsville, IN 47933, to benefit the Montgomery County Free Clinic Fund or the Dorothy Ken Coudret Fund.

William F. “Bill” Woodall, 87, of rural Crawfordsville, peacefully passed away Tuesday afternoon at home.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his service, he became an air traffic controller, then went to work for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in 1967 and was soon assigned to Montgomery County. Over the span of his career as conservation officer, he became a well-respected officer in the state of Indiana. He was a national pioneer in developing the Indiana Underwater Rescue and Recovery Program. He also enjoyed serving as a hunter’s education instructor. Bill retired from the DNR in 1994 and was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award. Starting in the early 1970s he became a licensed real estate agent, eventually becoming owner and operator of Woodall Realty in Crawfordsville. He was a founding member of the Montgomery County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited in 1996 and served as a board member for over 10 years. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever, Friends of Sugar Creek, the Crawfordsville and Darlington American Legion.
Born April 11, 1938 in Qulin, Missouri, he was the son of William Woodall and Mary Marie Woodall. He married the former Cindy Lou Servies on Feb. 12, 1994. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife, Cindy Woodall of rural Crawfordsville; four sons, Mike Woodall of Louisiana, Mitch Woodall of Jacksonville, Florida, Billy Woodall of Jacksonville, Florida and Jeff Woodall (Amy) of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Tommy (Alice) and Johnny Woodall, both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mitchell “Woody” Woodall, his parents, four sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 1 PM Saturday, Aug. 16th at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 1 PM, led by Pastor Brian Holt. After the service, he will be laid to rest with military and DNR Honors at Oak Hill Cemetery South.

Richard Charles “Charlie” Burton of Linden passed away at home Friday morning. He was 63.

Charlie was a volunteer fireman and former member of the town council in Veedersburg. He worked at Frey Tires in Attica, then the Co-Op in Veedersburg, followed by Heritage and most recently at WWL in Lafayette, inside the Subaru facility. He enjoyed carpentry, cooking, camping and fishing. He was an avid Packers fan. Most of all, he enjoyed being Papaw to his grandchildren.

Born Sept. 22, 1961 in Gibson City, Illinois, he was the son of Richard Edward Burton and Sandra Lou Moody Burton. He graduated from Attica High School and attended Purdue. He married Michele Bridge Martin, who survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Michele Burton of Linden; mother, Sandra Burton; four children, Katherine Gray (Michael), Roxanne Burton, Jesse Martin, Stephanie Kennedy; brother, Roger Burton (Sandy); sister, Cindy Ewart (Jules); ten grandchildren, Isaac, Adriana, Jayce, Penelope, Lydia, Karter, Lizzie, Klaire, Maggie and Iris; in-laws Cathie Randles and Mike & Jan Bridge; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Tyler Bridge, his father, both sets of grandparents and a niece, Brandy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, Aug. 14th at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 AM Friday, Aug. 15th, led by Pastor Gary Johnson. After the service, he will be laid to rest at the New Ross Cemetery.

Sheila Katherine Scheck, 69, passed away on August 5, 2025 in Linden, Indiana after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Sheila was born on November 25, 1955 in Rock Island, Illinois to Michael and Tess Scheck, the fifth of their nine children. Sheila spent her younger years in Rock Island and graduated from Rock Island “Rocky” High School in 1974. After high school she moved first to Makakilo, Hawaii and then Terre Haute, Indiana, where for 35 years she worked as a nurse’s aide in the health care industry. Shelia loved knitting and crocheting colorful and lovely hats, sweaters, and blankets for her many friends a family. If it is true that it takes a village to raise a child, then in the Scheck clan Sheila was often the village all by herself, as she loved caring for all her younger siblings, nieces and nephews and their children, all of whom adored their Aunt “She-She” more than anyone in the world. She had a strong faith in God that never wavered in her 69 years.�

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, her big sister Kristina Scheck, and by grand-nephews Edward Zaleski and Daniel Thibodeaux. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Scheck, Ann Scheck (Jack Bernard), Maggie Geene (Burke), and Jeanne Smith (William), and by her brothers Michael (Jaqueline), John, and Matthew, plus 14 nieces and nephews, 15 grandnieces and nephews, and 12 great-grandnieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Family requests no flowers.

Helen J. Lewis of Linden passed away Monday morning at home. She was 92.
Helen was a registered nurse in several places over the years, mostly in the ICU. She liked to read, crochet and was a wonderful cook. She would watch cooking shows often to get ideas.
Born Sept. 25, 1932 in Lafayette, Indiana, she was the daughter of Harry Keith Ritenour and Jessie Florence Carpenter Ritenour. She graduated from Dayton High School and attended nurse’s training at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Surviving family includes: sister, Betty Sweeney; three grandchildren, Dane Lewis (Malisa) with their children, Brevin, DeShawn, LeBron and Ashayla; Madison Sixberry (Caleb) with their three children, Lillian, Rozelyn and Clover; Chase Allen (Dakota) with their son, Xavier.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie Allen.
Her family will hold a celebration of life to remember her. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.

Donald Jackson II of Crawfordsville passed away at home on Sunday at the age of 46.

He liked to fish, play cards and drink beer. He liked working and was very good with his hands. He was an overall good person that loved his family. He worked as a Union Laborer.

Born Jan. 24, 1979 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Donald Jackson and Debra Harwell Perry. He married Amanda Livingston Jackson.

Surviving family includes: wife, Amanda Jackson; mother and step-father, Ed and Deb Perry; son, Cody Jackson; two daughters, Emma Jackson and Lilly Jackson; grandson, Isaiah Jackson; several aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special aunt, Sheila Livingston.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald Jackson.

David Allen Wiley of Darlington passed away Monday at home. He was 64.
David loved hunting, collecting and fixing old tractors, farming, pretty much anything that would get him outdoors. He loved when his grandkids would come visit him and he would spend as much time with them as he could. In his youth he was active in 4-H, FFA, and band, even getting to travel to Disneyworld with the WeBo band. He enjoyed spending time with his kids on the farm as they grew up, the farm where he and his brother and sister spent so much time growing up. He loved to be around family and he was the best husband, father, brother, son and Grandpa he could be. He was also the best Dad Joke teller, he could always be counted on to make you smile with one of his belly laughs.
Born Aug. 19, 1960 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Wayne Wiley and Barbara Burkhardt Wiley. He graduated from Western Boone, class of 1979. He married Trina Griggs on June 30, 1984. He worked at R.R. Donnelley for 44 years, retiring last year.
Surviving family includes: wife, Trina Wiley; son, Allen Wiley; daughter, Amanda Wiley; two grandchildren, Emrys and Carys; brother, Kenny Wiley; sister, Marilyn Frank.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jordan A. Gobin of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, July 30 at Franciscan Health of Lafayette. He was 30.
Jordan had been a salesman for Bob Rohrman Honda and more recently with JD Byrider. He was just starting with Resurrection Auto in Crawfordsville. He was a member of Legacy Church. He was a talented musician and liked playing drums. He enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and golf. He was a fan of all kinds of sports. He had a huge group of friends and loved his friend group. Most of all, he loved his son more than anything and was a wonderful daddy to Ryland.
Born Nov. 1, 1994 in Crawfordsville, he was the beloved son of Terry Gobin and Debra Tidwell Gobin. He graduated from Southmont in 2013 and attended Indiana Bible College for 2 years.
He was loved and will be missed by his surviving family, which includes: son, Ryland Gobin; parents, Pastor Terry and Debbie Gobin; brother, Josh Gobin (Carrie); sister, Marissa Pyle; grandmother, Roberta Gobin; five nieces and nephews, Ashlyn, Jentry, Waylon, Amariah and Aunyssa; two special aunts in his life, Linda Ayres and Tina Urquidi (Wille); two uncles, Rick Tidwell and Rand (Donna) Tidwell.

Robert “Bob” Vanderkolk of Crawfordsville passed away Monday night, July 21st in his home at the age of 89.
Bob was a trust officer for several banks in the Midwest, including several years at Elston Bank in Crawfordsville and the Effingham State Bank in Effingham, Illinois. He was a member of many civic and fraternal organizations over the years including the Montgomery County Shrine, Masonic Lodge, Elks, Eagles, Chamber of Commerce, Crawfordsville Country Club and Rotary. He served terms of office as the board chairman of the Red Cross, Boys and Girls Club and the annual hospital fair in Crawfordsville.
He was fondly regarded as "Mr. Athenian" at Crawfordsville High School football games, during which he donned the Athenian cape and helmet and wielded his sword enthusiastically to enliven and entertain the crowd once victory was secured. He enjoyed going on fishing trips, playing cards and doing puzzles. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Born Aug. 4, 1935 in Dayton, Indiana, he was the son of Ralph and Lorena Vanderkolk. He graduated from Dayton High School and Indiana State University. He married Diane Buckley on June 6, 1958 in Greentown, Indiana. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife, Diane Vanderkolk of Crawfordsville; daughter, Kim Mirowski (Adam) of Crown Point, Indiana; son, Brett Vanderkolk (Miranda) of Columbus, Indiana; three granddaughters, Jacqueline, Sara and Julia Vanderkolk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Vanderkolk.

Imogene Stevens, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, July 23rd at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Lafayette, where she resided the past four years.
Mrs. Stevens worked at General Foods for 18 years, retiring from there. She was a homemaker that took care of her family.
Born Dec. 5, 1933 in Jabez, Kentucky, she was the daughter of I. Wolford Polston and Stella Anderson Polston. She attended school in Jabez. She married Oliver H. “Ollie” Stevens on July 7, 1950 in Russell Springs, Kentucky. He passed away May 4, 2020.
Surviving family includes: two sons, Allen Dale Stevens (Mary) and Daniel Lee Stevens (Patricia), both of Lafayette; sister, Marie Wiggington of Somerset, Kentucky; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Arnold Polston and Vinous Polston, and three sisters, Aline Miller, Karen Carrell and Nettie Ellen Stevenson.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM on Tuesday, July 29th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 11 AM. After the service, she will be laid to rest beside Ollie at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
