IAS
We are committed to making a difference for those who have Autism. We celebrate differences and use methods of teaching that work for children with ASD. Our programming is comprehensive and specific to the needs of the individual.
Stacey and Gordon Emmert are the Founders of IAS. Stacey has always been passionate about behavior and was the first Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to live in Montgomery County. She is still the only BCBA to reside in Montgomery County. The reasons she pursued this qualification are many, but as a Special Education teacher for 15 years she saw the true need for qualified professionals to work with children who have behavior challenges. The goal is always to mainstream all children, who have differences, and that is what Stacey loves doing - using a systematic approach (ABA) to generalize skills from from person to person and from one environment to another.
Stacey has her MS degree from Butler University where she obtained her Special Education teaching license and MS in Effective Teaching. During her time at Butler and under the direction of her advisor Dr. Kercood, BCBA-D she participated in Human Subject Research in the public schools - to determine if math skills improved while listening to music, holding a fidget or using a “choice” activity. Stacey presented the results at the International Applied Behavior Analysis in Atlanta in 2007.
Stacey’s most recent experience was at Zionsville West Middle School where she led the district wide Intensive Intervention middle school program - teaching students coping skills, self-regulating, and academics - in order for them to be successful in the general education setting.
