When providing support as back up to another doula’s client, you never truly know what you’re walking into - you just know to show up with a strong commitment to support, an open heart, and willingness to do what you DOULA best.

When I arrived to the hospital to support Jami & Brandon in birthing their first child, we connected immediately. During labor, I held them during moments of excitement, joy, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Their story is the type of story that continues to fuel my drive for patient advocacy and support within the hospital setting. Their story is one that I will never forget, and I will look back on if ever I need a reminder of my “why”.

The universe really did place us in each others’ lives at the perfect moment in time. I feel so honored that I have been able to walk by their side into parenthood.

I’m a doula lots of the time, but I’m a mom all the time. And I just discovered an interesting parallel in my home & doula life. For our homeschool project right now, we’re raising butterflies and discussing their life cycle. And funny enough, I’m learning just as much as my son is.

Did you know that when butterflies emerge from their chrysalis, they release a red liquid form of waste called…. MECONIUM?! If you didn’t already know, meconium is also the name for a newborn baby’s first P**P!

Anyway, just call me the butterfly doula!

I’m so excited to finally share this - I’ve created a blog!

I’m using my own knowledge and experience to help answer some of the most frequently asked questions I hear from new moms navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

My very first post is now live: “What is a doula?”

If you’ve ever wondered what a doula actually does, how we can support you, or if it’s something you might benefit from, this is for you.

You can read it here👇🏼

I’ll be sharing new posts each week, so if this is something you’re interested in, be sure to follow along! 🫶🏼

If you’re asking “What is a doula?” – whether you’re an expectant mother seeking additional support, or an aspiring birth worker interested in providing maternal support – I’m glad you’re here!

Some families leave a mark on your heart forever… this is one of them 🤍

I had the honor of walking alongside this sweet family for nearly five months - through those tender, exhausting, beautiful early days of postpartum. We settled into a rhythm together, built trust, shared quiet moments, laughs, and sometimes tears in the middle of the night… and somewhere along the way, they became so much more than just clients to me.

To be able to offer emotional support, newborn & postpartum guidance, breastfeeding advice, and a sense of calm to new families in their most vulnerable season is something I will never take lightly.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for trusting me with your home, your baby, and your postpartum season. 🥹

✨Placenta Art✨

Which do you prefer - bold watercolor with bright embellishments or natural with more organic, quiet details?

I’m loving them both, but the natural, organic aesthetic is definitely more my style! 🥰

I offer many different custom options for placenta art keepsakes including natural, painted with watercolor, plain or with embellishments such as dried florals, butterfly wings, mushrooms, glitter, and more!

Sleepless nights, happy tears, tired smiles, laughs, cries, hugs, love, support, affirmations, hip squeezes, late night snuggles, and lots of memories made with so many amazing families. That’s what being a doula is all about.

Still floating after a beautiful home birth today… There is nothing like witnessing a woman bring her baby into the world in her own space, in her own way. Days like today fill me with so much joy and gratitude.

What a beautiful way to begin World Doula Week. 🤍

People often ask me:

“Why did you choose doula work?”
“Why didn’t you just go back to your ‘normal’ job?”
“Why are you so passionate about lactation?”
“Why would you work these unpredictable, exhausting hours instead of just being a stay-at-home mom?”

The answers are simple.

Because I have struggled.
Because I have felt alone and unsupported.
Because my voice has been ignored in moments it mattered most.
Because I have experienced what it feels like to have my body handled without consent in vulnerable times.
Because I have wondered if I was feeding my baby enough and asked myself hopelessly, “Am I doing this right?”
Because I have had joy and excitement quickly turn into fear and grief.
Because I have suffered unnecessary pain.
Because I have been too exhausted and anxious to care for myself while keeping a brand new human alive.
Because I care. And because I know it’s necessary. And because no one should have to walk into motherhood without support.
Because I know I can provide the support that the mom in these pictures desperately needed, but didn’t have.

Pregnancy after loss requires a different kind of strength. It is not naive hope or carefree excitement. It’s brave and courageous.

Pregnancy after loss means carrying both grief and joy in the same body. It means celebrating milestones while remembering the ones that never came. It means loving this baby deeply, while still loving the one who isn’t here. It can be beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

If you are walking through pregnancy after loss, you are not weak for feeling anxious. You are not ungrateful for feeling afraid. You are human and you are strong in ways most people will never fully understand.

This month, and always, I’ll hold space for you. 🤍🌈
