Chicken Ginger Congee - A meal that heals 🫚

One of my favorite postpartum menu items to offer to new families after birth (highly recommended having this after a cesarean). It’s anti-inflammatory, mineral-rich, high in protein, hydrating, easy to digest, gentle on the stomach, and so comforting & delicious!

The postpartum season requires love, healing, and nourishment - those are my intentions when I show up at your door with a home cooked meal postpartum.

One of my goals this year is to be more present in our local community and to help create a safe, welcoming space where women and mothers can receive emotional support freely and without pressure.

For our first maternal support gathering of the year, we’ll be holding a Birth Story Telling circle.

So many of us carry our birth stories quietly with pieces that were never fully shared, witnessed, or processed. This gathering is a gentle opportunity to tell your story if you’re ready, to listen if you’re not, and to be held in a compassionate, trauma-informed space.

Tea, light snacks, and community will be provided.
Listening is just as welcome as sharing. For those who may want some additional support processing their birth, I have created a Birth Trauma Processing Workbook - these will be provided free of charge to anyone who wants one.

All details are on the invite šŸ¤

Babies don’t need more stuff - they need comfort, responsiveness, and caregivers who aren’t overwhelmed by an excess of unnecessary items and gadgets.

These ā€œskip suggestionsā€ are simply my educated opinion as a doula, lactation counselor, and mom who has seen a lot of postpartum seasons. If these items are items you have loved, no judgement here! This list isn’t about right vs. wrong; it’s about simplifying postpartum life, tuning into cues, and keeping safety and well-being a priority for the whole family.

Don’t fall victim to trends and over consumerism. It’s okay to not have everything marketed towards babies and new parents. Sometimes, you’re actually better off not having everything.

This pot of homegrown and locally sourced ingredients becomes many small jars of powerful liquid, and each of those jars travels with me to births.
I make and pressure-can my own bone broth and keep it tucked into my doula bag. Within the golden hour, I gently warm it and serve it alongside a high-quality electrolyte drink and an organic honey stick to help replenish mom’s fluids, minerals, and energy after labor.
Birth is powerful. Nourishment matters.
This ritual is simple, ancestral, and deeply supportive - just a small act of care for a body that has just done something extraordinary.

Happy Birth-Day to baby boy #3 of December 🩵🄳

This morning, I walked out of my final birth of 2025 feeling physically and mentally tired, but deeply honored to have supported so many growing families.
I’m incredibly proud of every family I had the privilege of walking beside this year. Each birth taught me something new, and in supporting others, I learned a few things about myself as well. I’m excited to carry these lessons into 2026 and continue offering an even deeper level of support to the families who trust me during such a sacred time.

But for now… it’s time to rest, recover, and soak in time with my own family.

Strength in every breath.
Birth has a way of revealing a mother’s resilience in the most beautiful, humbling ways.

I’m so proud of another incredible, brave new mama who showed so much courage the past few days. Birth stories like hers remind me why I started this work in the first place.

As the holiday season arrives, my heart is with every parent and parent-in-waiting.

To the expectant mamas filled with excitement, uncertainty, hope, and wonder - honor your limits, trust your body and listen to its needs, and know that it’s okay to choose ease in this season.

To the parents in the thick of postpartum, the ones up late feeding, healing, and adjusting - you are doing beautifully, even when it feels like survival mode. Give yourself grace as we move through this busy season.

To the moms and dads protecting their littles’ space, routines, and boundaries - your ā€œnoā€ is an act of care. You’re allowed to choose what keeps your child safe & regulated and yourself at peace.

To the families facing the hard questions - ā€œWhen are you having a baby?ā€ or ā€œWhen’s the next one coming?ā€ - your story is yours alone. You don’t owe anyone an explanation, and you deserve compassion in every conversation.

To those carrying infertility, miscarriage, or the ache of missing a baby - I’m holding your hearts close. Your grief is real. You deserve tenderness and empathy.

Wherever this season finds you - celebrating, setting boundaries, protecting your heart, or simply getting through the day - you’re not alone.

Let us all remember that this beautiful, joyous time for sharing and gathering, can be messy, chaotic, complicated, overwhelming, and sometimes even sorrowful for some.

Wherever you are this season, I hope you find moments of peace, comfort, and bliss
