✨Meet Your Dance Teacher✨
Emily Johnston (Miss Emily) is an educator in the somatic practice of dance and aerial arts. She began her formal dance training at the age of 7, after learning every music video dance she could get her hands on.
She continued dancing competitively in jazz, ballet, and lyrical until the age of 19, while also dabbling in tap, pointe, hip hop, and modern. Throughout her 20s, her training expanded to ballroom (mostly Latin styles) and circus arts (lyra, silks, hammock).
Brewed and birthed in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she eagerly sought to find her place in the movement community. After moving to Crescent City in 2021, she finally found home.
There, she taught and grew with Alter Ego Dance Studio, where she taught multiple dance styles and lyra. She now continues to develop and grow in her new studio, Sacral Spaces Yoga & Dance.
Her work has been featured in all five of Alter Ego’s stage performances as well as at The New Amsterdam Theatre. She hopes to bring the next generation safe and conscientious ways to develop their bodies and minds.
She is also passionate about creating an inclusive and nurturing circus arts community in Crescent City, California (basically Oregon), where she currently resides with her fiancé and two fur gremlins.
Emily will be teaching Tiny Toes (ages 3-5), Pre-Teen Hip Hop (ages 10-13), Jazz/Ballet Foundations (ages 10-16 & 16+), Intro Aerial (ages 8+), and Adult Aerial (ages 16+) starting in August!
Stay tuned for the full schedule and sign up app dropping in the next few days!✨
