James Allen Muller was the first of seven children born to John A. Muller, Jr. and Elaine
(VanBuskirk) Muller. Born on July 9, 1953, he quietly passed from this life on Wednesday,
January 7, 2026 after a long battle with failing health and a sad slide away from his family
and friends due to early onset dementia and Alzheimer’s.

A perfectionist like his dad, Jim developed skills and talents that carried him through most
of his days. Learning piano at an early age, he left lessons behind and let his heart and
mind take over, figuring out how to play by ear. He enjoyed playing songs from his
generation as well as oldies from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s, which rounded out his repertoire,
giving Jim the opportunity to play dinner music professionally at restaurants in the
Newfoundland area. Jim also played trumpet beautifully, took up the guitar, and wrote
songs that became favorites for his friends and family.

Jim was usually quiet and introspective, as he also loved to share life and laughter with
others. His thoughtfulness would reveal itself in the personal kindness he showed.
Jim was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. He was also a very hard worker. His dedication to detail became the heart of his job and later his own business as a landscaper. Many
businesses and homes in the Poconos were graced with Jim’s expertise and love for his
craft.

Jim is survived by his family and friends who will miss him and will continue to treasure the memories of all the ways Jim touched their lives.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13 at
Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, Greentown from 2:00-3:00pm with a Celebration of Life and dinner to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to
Hospice of The Sacred Heart in Moosic,PA

Eugene “Chubby” Samolewicz Sr., a lifelong Brooklynite and devoted public servant, passed away peacefully January 5, 2026 leaving the memories of a life well lived.

Born May 28, 1931 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he proudly served the City of New York as a New York City police officer for 31 years, a career defined by dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to his community.

Before beginning his long career in law enforcement, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he worked as a cook, providing comfort and nourishment to his fellow soldiers. In recognition of his honorable service, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Before and after his military service, he worked as a butcher for a total of 18 years, a trade he took great pride in. His love of skilled work and learning began early—during his school years, he specialized in printing and woodworking classes—always eager to learn and build a better life for his family.

He was married for 68 beautiful years to the love of his life, Irene, with whom he built a home filled with laughter, music, and deep devotion. Together, they shared a partnership rooted in love, family, and joy. Irene preceded him in death, and he carried her memory with him always.

He will be remembered most for his boundless love of music and dancing. A true music enthusiast, he delighted in attending shows at the Staten in Staten Island, NY, filling rooms with rhythm, and especially taking to the dance floor for his beloved polka dancing. Whether dancing, listening to his favorite songs, or simply being surrounded by those he loved, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Being an avid dancer, he taught line dance lessons for many years at the senior center in Brooklyn, NY.

Above all else, he cherished his family. He is survived by his two loving children, Renee Langley and Eugene Samolewicz Jr.; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jason) Forman, Tabitha Langley, Michael (Ashley) Langley, and great-grandchildren, Sofia Forman, Bella Forman and Roland Langley, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by lifelong family friend Marie Deteskey, her children; Henry (June) Deteskey III, Sheila Basile; their children; Roseanne Basile (Ryder and Ryan), Henry Deteskey IV and Jaclyn Deteskey. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Irene; his parents, Edward and Sophie Samolewicz, his brothers, Emil Samolewicz, Peter Scott, Andrew Samolewicz, Henry Samolewicz; sister, Catherine Jaros.
Though many welcomed him home before him, his legacy lives on through the generations he leaves behind and the countless lives he touched.
