Today was Toe Trim Tuesday šŸ’…šŸ¼

Did you know that horses’ hooves are the same material as your fingernails, and therefore have to be trimmed regularly too?

But wait! Why’s that one chained up?! 😱

Grace is just in what is called a shoeing stock, which makes her feel more secure and keeps the farrier safe when she is nervous. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Thanks to The Shelby Foundation Women’s Fund, we will soon have water out to the barn, which is the last piece of infrastructure we need for our new grounds to be functional! šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ’š

The Shelby Foundation is proud to announce $10,725 in 2026 Women’s Fund grants to four local organizations serving women, children, and families across Richland County.

Because of the generosity of 100+ Women for Shelby members and individual donors, this funding will support:

• Shelby Girls Softball League
• Cedarbrae Inc.
• Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Ohio (Richland County Community Group)
• Skate Ohio

This is what collective giving looks like in Shelby.

Thank you to every member and donor who makes this possible. ā¤ļø

It all starts with connection- on their level.

You know I had to get in on this trend, but… how did ChatGPT know what my session notes look like?! 🤣

We now have 7 acres of pasture fenced in courtesy of Johnsville Fencing, who had it done with a two-man crew in only two days! On the remaining 3 acres surrounding the perimeter of the pasture, we will be establishing trees and a walking path.

Things I want my clients to know:

I truly care about you. If I was pretending to care for a paycheck, I would charge more.

I think about you. Before you come in, after you’ve left. When you have that big thing coming up. Even after you’ve moved on.

I am always on your side. Messed up? Changed your mind? Let’s run it again.

I am still gonna challenge you sometimes though. You’re here to grow, right?

I am never judging you. We are all just doing our best with the tools we’ve been given.

I worry about what to say too. And sometimes dumb things come out of my mouth, too. Again, we’re all doing our best.

Sometimes the horses behave badly. They have their own emotions and can also feel ours. You know what I’m gonna say- they’re just doing their best too.

I want you to tell me what you want during your session. Asserting yourself? Love that for you.

Other times what you want doesn’t work out; see grouchy horses, above. Adaptability is a good thing to practice too.

I embrace your deleted scenes, your blooper reel, and your hidden album. I’m sick of the curated social media feeds.

I want you to reach out. I would rather you turn to me when you feel like you have no one else, than to truly have no one. Let’s get you some listening ears and a horse to hug. Even though they don’t always want to put a halter on, I’ve never seen them turn away when someone needs them. šŸ–¤

If you’re not sure about what we do or even about the whole ā€œhorse thingā€ in general, this week is a great opportunity to stop out at the Draft Horse barn at the Richland County Fair, pet this sweet little face, and see what we’re all about!
