Creston Specialty Care is a skilled nursing and long-term care community providing compassionate, individualized care for our residents, while also caring for their family's wellbeing and peace of mind. We serve residents from Union County, Iowa, and many surrounding communities. We are committed to providing our residents with an active and engaging quality of life through daily programming, social and educational activities, and services that promote physical health, provide mental stimulation, increase engagement and help our residents thrive in a home-like setting. Today we’re excited to recognize Maria, one of our dedicated Certified Nurse Aides! 💙

Maria shares that what she enjoys most about her role is helping residents and having meaningful conversations about their day—the heart of compassionate care. She describes our team as compassionate and family‑oriented, and that sense of connection is something she truly values. Looking ahead, Maria hopes to earn her LPN and continue working in long-term care within the next five years.

Her inspiration comes from her sister, who always helps others—even when things get busy. After a long day, Maria likes to unwind by taking a nap in her bed with her heated blanket.

Her advice to others entering the field? “Don’t overwork yourself—take time for yourself.”

One thing Maria wishes more people knew about our community is that we are very family oriented and go out of our way to meet people’s needs.

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Diane A. 💙

Diane says her favorite part of living here is the helpful people—and we’re so glad to have her as part of our community! When it comes to hobbies, Diane enjoys watching TV, sewing, and spending time walking and visiting with friends.

Diane has quite an impressive work history. She proudly worked at Walmart for 30 years, gaining experience across many different departments.

Her advice to the younger generation is simple but powerful: “Put priorities first.”

Kari has been a valued part of our team for seven years and recently returned full-time last year—and we are so glad to have her back!

What Kari loves most about her role is the meaningful relationships she builds with residents, along with teaching and training new nurses and team members to provide excellent care. She finds joy in knowing she can make someone’s day a little better. 🌟

She describes our team as family-oriented, always working together and going above and beyond to help when it’s needed most.

Kari’s passion has always been working with geriatrics, and her dedication truly shines through in everything she does.

Her biggest inspiration? Her family—they give her strength and remind her why caring for others matters so much. ❤️

After a long day, Kari recharges by spending quality time with her family—especially enjoying vacations to Florida! 🌴

Her advice for anyone starting in this field:

Dorothy grew up in St. Louis and is a proud mom to her three sons. Her greatest accomplishment? Devoting her time to raising her children and building a loving family. ❤️

Dorothy enjoys spending her free time crocheting and quilting, sharing her creativity and warmth through every stitch. 🧶
