Congratulations to Brit Woodside, our fall 2025 DAISY award winner!

Nomination Story:
My father had to have surgery and lets just say he is an old, set in his way, farmer. It was all we could do to get him to surgery knowing he would also have to spend the night. The morning was off to a very bad start for him and I was just counting down the minutes until they gave him a little happy medicine. After surgery I cautiously approached his room. I arrived to find my Dad laughing so hard he was in tears. There was his nurse, Brit, going about doing her business as every nurse does, but Brit went above and beyond to make Dad feel at ease. She related to him in a way no other health care provider has done. She took the time to make him feel comfortable and to find humor during a very uncomfortable situation. She also was extremely attentive to my mother who had to endure a long day and was exhausted. I know Brit had a busy day and was attentive to other patients as well. As a healthcare provider myself, I know it can be very difficult to meet the needs of all your patients. Brit was able to do this effortlessly and made my Dad feel like he was only patient she had. Thanks to Brit's wonderful care its safe to say if Dad needs any other procedures done it will be much easier getting him to agree. It is obvious to see Brit is doing what she loves and truly cares about her patients. This is what makes her an exceptional nurse and patient's like my dad lucky to have a nurse that gives her all to each and every patient. Thank you Brit for making my Dad laugh to the point he couldn't speak. Well done!
