Did you know colon cancer can be prevented when caught early?

There are several screening options available, including blood tests and at-home stool tests, but a colonoscopy remains the gold standard for screening.

Why? Because it doesn’t just detect cancer, it can prevent cancer from forming by removing precancerous polyps before they ever become a problem.

If you’re 45 or older, or have risk factors, talk with your provider about the screening option that’s right for you. The most important step is getting screened, but when possible, a colonoscopy offers the most complete protection.

Kimberly Weehler, Chief Quality Officer, and Amanda Mohr, Chief Nursing Officer and Iowa Organization for Nursing Leadership President, recently represented Greater Regional Health at the Iowa Organization for Nursing Leadership (IONL) annual Day on the Hill.

“IONL Day on the Hill is an opportunity for nursing leaders and frontline staff to share their stories and evidence-based practice needs within the healthcare system face-to-face with elected officials” said Mohr.

“It was a great opportunity to meet with Senator Shipley and discuss the importance of OB, EMS, nursing, and ancillary services,” said Weehler.

From advocating for rural healthcare access to strengthening the future of nursing, this event is a powerful reminder that local voices make a state-wide impact. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of the conversation shaping healthcare in our communities.
