New Year's resolutions often fizzle out. Read below for a better approach!

Why Resolutions Fail:
Focus on outcome (weight loss, money)
Can lead to discouragement and unhealthy habits

The Values-Based Approach:
Identify your core values (honesty, kindness, etc.)
Set goals that reflect those values
Focus on the journey, not the destination

Example:
Outcome: Lose 10 pounds (focus on number)
Values-Based: Eat healthy, listen to my body (focus on choices)
This approach leads to lasting change and a happier you!

Has your child experienced rejection yet? 💔

😢 Heartbreak and rejection are an uncomfortable, but inevitable, part of life. Teaching kids how to handle rejection will help them be more emotionally resilient and empathetic when the time comes.

🗣️ Here are 3 things to teach your kids about how to handle rejection…
1️⃣ Respecting others’ consent and boundaries is non-negotiable—AND it’s a super important skill for kids to learn as they become more socially independent. You can say, “If someone tells you ‘no,’ respect their decision and move on.”

2️⃣ It takes a lot of bravery to put yourself out there. Remind them that everyone gets rejected sometimes, and it never feels good. Lead with empathy and let them know you’re here to help them process any difficult feelings.

3️⃣ It also takes courage to say “no.” Remind them it’s not personal when others set a boundary. They should not let any difficult feelings about the rejection turn into anger or bitterness toward the person who rejected them.

🙌🏾 Teaching these important lessons to your kids early and often can help set them up to handle rejection with grace and respect as they get older!

Positive, responsive, language-rich interactions during a child’s first years support healthy brain development that critically influences executive function and attention and leads to social and learning skills. One of the best interactions to support healthy brain development is reading aloud to your baby! Consider these tips when choosing books to read aloud to your 9-month-old.

The safest way for your baby to sleep is in their own bed. But that doesn't mean they have to be far away. Putting your baby in a crib or pack and play in your room is the best way to keep them close AND safe. ❤️

The right words can make a huge difference when it comes to building your child’s confidence and self-esteem.

Here are 3 things you can say when your child with ADHD says "I can't do it":
1. "I know this is hard for you."
2. "Have I ever told you about..."
3. "You cant do this, yet."

If your child is sick with a cold or flu, there are a few things you can do to keep them comfortable and prevent the illness from spreading.

1. Consult your doctor early if you have concerns about your child's illness.

2. Stay home for at least 24 hours after your child's fever is gone except to get medical care or other necessities.

3. Avoid spreading viruses by having your child wash their hands frequently.

4. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water and other clear liquids to prevent fluid loss (dehydration).

5. If you must leave home, for example to get medical care, wear facemask, or have your child cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue.

6. Clean surfaces that may be contaminated with viruses, such as toys and doorknobs.

Holiday gatherings are a time to connect but can also increase your exposure to respiratory illnesses.

Even if you are vaccinated against COVID-19, Flu, or RSV, there are other respiratory illnesses, like the common cold, that you can still get.

For added layers of protection, follow CDC’s recommended respiratory illness prevention strategies, like:
- Practicing good hygiene by washing your hands.
- Improving air flow or ventilation in crowded spaces.
- If feeling sick, staying home, or wearing a mask if you must be around others.
