I (Rebecca Winkler) apologize for having to cancel the April Winkler's Wish meeting/dinner. With the mother's funeral being April 5th out of state it will not be possible for us to have the April 7th meeting.

Winkler’s Wish Foundation was established in 2016 after the loss of USAF veteran Richard Andrew, “Drew” Winkler to PTSD su***de. Drew’s last Facebook post was “1 of 22 per day..why (whey) can’t they just help us...goodbye”. The mission of Winkler’s Wish is to help/support veterans suffering from PTSD/PTSD issues and their families. Mentor peer group meetings, with free dinners, are provided as a safe place to connect with other veterans suffering with PTSD. Assistance is provided with locating support/services needed by veterans or their families which falls outside the ability of Winkler's Wish to directly provide. Winkler’s Wish is actively involved in hosting or attending community events with the focus on veteran PTSD, what it is, how it affects veterans, their families/friends and the communities they live in. Our goal is to bring awareness to the epidemic of veteran su***des, while providing veterans with a support system of fellow veterans. PTSD is the invisible/hidden wound, not seen but with the ability to be just as debilitating as physical injuries. Many veterans/active duty members hide this wound for fear of being labeled crazy or having the diagnosis affect their family, friends or employment.
Winkler’s Wish has been instrumental in getting two veterans into separate in-residence programs. The foundation has been able to provide a vehicle donated to Winkler’s Wish, with a clear title to a veteran in need. Also received as a donation to Winkler’s Wish was a mobility scooter, which was provided to a veteran needing mobility assistance.
