📚🎩 Happy Dr. Seuss Day! 🎩📚

Oh the things little eyes can see…
From buzzing bees 🐝 to the tallest tree 🌳
From storybooks, games, and kites in the sky,
Kids use their eyes for so much—oh my! 👀

But sometimes those eyes may rub, rub, rub…
Or squint at a book or a toy in the tub.
If your child is rubbing their eyes or squinting a lot,
It may be a sign to get their eyes checked on the spot!

👓 Annual eye exams help keep young eyes strong
So kids can keep seeing the whole world all day long.

📱 Screens can be fun, but too much isn’t wise—
Too much screen time can lead to dry, tired eyes.
So take breaks, blink often, and rest those peepers!

👓 If your child wears glasses, here’s a helpful trick:
Take them off with BOTH hands—easy and quick!

If eyelids feel itchy, crusty, or sore,
A gentle daily eyelid wash can help even more. 🧼

And if eyes feel dry or scratchy throughout the day,
A drop of artificial tears can help right away. 💧

Take care of those little eyes—big adventures await!
Clear, healthy vision helps kids learn, play, and create. ✨

👀 If you notice rubbing, squinting, or complaints about vision, schedule an eye exam. Healthy eyes help children see their bright future!

Each year, nearly 25,000 Americans visit the emergency room due to a workplace eye injury. During Workplace Eye Wellness Month this March, the American Academy of Ophthalmology reminds employers and workers about the importance of wearing certified and approved eye protection.

👁️ Retinoblastoma Awareness 👁️

Retinoblastoma is a rare but serious childhood eye cancer that affects about 300–400 children each year in the U.S. and Canada, and around 6,000 children worldwide. It affects boys and girls equally.

✨ Early detection is key.
Doctors check babies’ eyes at birth and during regular checkups by looking for the normal “red reflex” — the red glow you sometimes see in flash photos. If that glow looks abnormal (or white), it could be a warning sign and should be checked by an eye specialist right away.

Sometimes children with retinoblastoma may develop a “lazy eye” (strabismus). Any child with a lazy eye should receive a full eye exam.

🧬 What causes it?
Retinoblastoma happens because of a gene change that causes a tumor to grow in the retina. In some families, it can be inherited — but most cases happen spontaneously. Siblings and children of someone with retinoblastoma should have regular eye exams.

💙 The good news:
When caught early and treated properly, more than 95% of children can be cured.

Treatment depends on the size and location of the tumor and may include:
• Chemotherapy
• Laser treatments
• Radiation
• Surgery

Care from specialists experienced in treating childhood eye cancer is very important.

If you ever notice something unusual about your child’s eyes — especially a white glow in photos — trust your instincts and have it checked. Early diagnosis saves vision and lives.

Catch before it steals your sight. Almost 50% of people who have glaucoma don’t know. Often, it has no early warning signs. The best defense? Regular eye exams for early detection. More info: https://bit.ly/4sw1aog
