Last Tuesday changed something.

Huge thank you to Milligan Assembly of God for hosting our first “Detox” small group. It wasn’t just about breaking habits… it was about rebuilding minds, hearts, and direction.

April 4th… he asked God for a change.

No money for rehab
No clear plan

Just a simple pancake card someone handed him…

Four days later, he was here.

Now this Tuesday, April 14th, Joey Busby graduates 🎓

One year later.

That “small” card?
It became part of his testimony
And it could be the same for someone else

He was in the pit… now he’s building a ministry.

“I patiently waited for the Lord… He heard my cry. He lifted me out of the muck and mire and set my feet on a rock.”

Psalm 40:1-2

That’s not just a verse. That’s his story.

From the pit to purpose, Sunshine is stepping into his calling to launch Shine On Ministries… reaching back to help the ones still stuck where he once was.

And if you know him, you know his favorite number is 3… a reminder that God is still in the business of resurrection, restoration, and new life.

Today he stands firm. Free. Walking in purpose.

Before anyone ever takes their first step into recovery here… they meet Mike.

And that moment matters.

As our Intake Director, Mike is the first voice of hope our students hear. The first handshake. The first reminder that change is possible.

Now, as he celebrates 2 years in the program and a birthday right around the corner, we wanted you to get to know the man behind that first impression 👇

What’s been speaking to him lately?
“Galatians 6:9… a reminder not to grow weary in doing good.”

What is God teaching him right now?
“To seek Him first in everything… and trust that everything else will follow.”

The greatest gift he’s received?
“Freedom. Joy. Peace. Everything I’ve found in these last two years.”

Mike said he’d be a refrigerator. Why?
“Because I like to keep things fresh and maintain a stable environment.”
