“Dr. Austin did our family's third tongue tie and lip tie surgery. He's proactive and tries to do what YOU want! We knew from experience that getting our baby's tongue and lip ties done early after birth was best, so in June '24 we scheduled him online for the NEXT day and the surgery was done same-day after confirming the tongue and lip ties at the appointment. Dr. Austin has personal experience with this since his own baby had untreated ties after birth, so he's passionate to help others suffer less.”

"We love going to Dr. Austin for our kids. Their office is super clean and beautiful. All the staff are so nice and knowledgeable. All three of my kids have had horrible lip and tongue ties. We waited too long with my youngest to have it corrected for nursing and dr. Austin had great recommendations for when we should correct it that will be the safest for our little guy and when he’d understand the situation more since he’s in a tricky wiggly stage now. Q: How soon will I notice a difference once my baby has had a tongue and/or lip-tie release?
A: Ideally, you will notice a difference immediately after the tongue and/or lip-tie release has been completed. However, depending on your baby's specific case, it may take between 1-2 weeks before you notice a significant difference. At the Kentucky Tongue-Tie Center, we believe that the earlier your infant is evaluated by a lactation consultant, the better. Dr. Rodenberg believes that infants who are treated at an earlier age will not have as much time to develop compensatory feeding habits and will result in better feeding outcomes after the baby has a their tongue and/or lip-tie released. Q: Does my baby need to have their tongue and/or lip-tie released at the hospital?
A: While some infants have a release completed in the hospital after they are born. A healthy baby can have their release completed in a clinical setting with a trained professional. At the Kentucky Tongue-Tie Center, Dr. Rodenberg uses a CO2 laser to release tongue and lip-ties which reduces the amount of post surgical discomfort, swelling, and bleeding while also reducing the amount of surgery time.

A tongue-tie, also known as ankyloglossia, is a frenum (tissue) that attaches the bottom of the tongue to the floor of the mouth and restricts normal tongue movements. This condition can impact child's development as they learn to speak, eat, or even sleep. As frenum's are a normal part of the human anatomy, it is important to have a trained professional distinguish a tongue-tie from a healthy frenum.
