This year’s Hometown Heroes game will raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in honor of 6-year-old local ambassador, and LIHA house player Isai Soriano, who was recently diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, as well as the Lincoln chapter of the First Responders Foundation.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a progressive and life-limiting condition that affects about 1 in every 3,600 male infants. It weakens muscles needed for movement, breathing, and heart function. While there is no cure, treatments can help slow its progression and provide hope for families like the Sorianos.

“This event is about honoring our first responders and military members, while also rallying behind Isai and families impacted by muscular dystrophy,” said organizer and Lincoln Firefighter Delano Lopez. “We can only succeed with the strength of our community. Every ticket purchased, every cheer from the stands, and every donation makes a difference. Together, we can create hope and show what Lincoln is all about—supporting one another.”

🚨 Training Saves Lives 🚨

This past year, StarCare had the honor of working alongside the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) to prepare for emergency situations that demand quick thinking and courageous action.

⚡ These dedicated linemen have successfully completed CAMTS-approved Landing Zone training, empowering them to request helicopter support via 911 dispatch or the Air Com app—an essential tool in life-threatening scenarios.

🚁 Last July, NPPD, York 911 Center, York Fire & Rescue, York PD, York County Sheriff’s office, and StarCare came together for a mock electrocution drill—a powerful reminder that planning, preparation, and early activation save lives.

🌪️ Through Nebraska’s wild weather—blizzards, storms, tornadoes and scorching heat—these brave individuals leave their homes and families to restore power and protect our communities.

🙏 Thank you for your service. Not all heroes wear capes.

We are excited to announce that all of our community-based rotor-wing and fixed-wing programs in Nebraska have earned EMSC Pediatric Readiness Recognition from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, proving our commitment to providing life-saving care for patients of all ages, especially the most vulnerable.

With LifeNet of the Heartland (including LifeNet 1-1 Omaha, LifeNet 1-2 Norfolk, LifeNet 1-3 Columbus, LifeNet North Platte), TriCity LifeNet Kearney, NE, and StarCare now fully recognized, Nebraskans can rest assured knowing our expert teams are trained, equipped, and ready to care for children in any emergency. Our highly skilled clinicians, with a 95.7% first-time pediatric intubation rate, are ready to deliver critical care when it matters most.

For pediatric patients like Axel Barahona, who reunited earlier this spring with TriCity LifeNet, having clinicians who understand the complexities of working with younger patients can be the difference between life and death.
