What if stress isn’t just about how busy you are…but about how misaligned you feel?

This month at Crofton Yoga & Wellness, we’re exploring a yogic principle called Satya (pronounced SAHT-yah).
It simply means truthfulness.
Not blunt honesty.
Not saying everything you think.
But living in alignment with what you know is true inside.

Sometimes that looks like:
• Admitting you’re tired.
• Saying “not right now” instead of overcommitting.
• Not pretending you’re fine when you’re not.
Yoga teaches that when our thoughts, words, and actions line up, life feels lighter. There’s less friction. Less internal tension.

🌿 This week’s mantra:
“I honor my truth, even when it feels uncomfortable.”

Try this today:
Pause and ask — What am I actually feeling right now? And what would alignment look like?

Truth, when guided by kindness, creates steadiness.

Join us this month as we explore how yoga supports living in alignment — on and off the mat.

What does non-violence (Ahimsa) look like in modern life? It might not be what you think.
It can show up in:
• Your tone
• Your timing
• Your choice of words
• Your willingness to listen

“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” — Unknown

Before speaking, you might ask:
Is it true?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?

This week’s reflection:
May your presence be peaceful. 🌿

This week at Crofton Yoga & Wellness, we’re exploring Ahimsa (Non-Violence) through the lens of radical self-compassion.
Non-violence isn’t just about what we do. It’s about how we speak to ourselves when things feel hard.
When stress rises…
When emotions feel messy…
When you think you “should” be handling it better…

Try this:
“I can allow this moment to be as it is.”
That’s not giving up. That’s practicing strength.
We’re grateful to walk this path with you.

This course builds upon a basic knowledge of anatomy. Students who have participated in Pranakriya’s 200-hour yoga teacher training will have a solid foundation for participation in this course.

Students will learn musculoskeletal assessment techniques by developing their knowledge of the terms: mobility & flexibility, facilitated vs. inhibited, agonist vs. antagonist, symmetry, range of motion, tone vs. atrophy, balance and perceived source of pain. Learning will take place through group observation, yoga practice, and one-on-one assessments. Basic yoga postures will set the observation platform.

All students will be asked to partake in a series of quizzes prior to the start of the program to enhance or refresh their knowledge of anatomy in preparation for the start of Musculoskeletal Assessment. The time necessary to complete the quizzes are considered a part of the program’s 20 hours. This course builds upon basic anatomy with the intention of further developing a teacher’s observational and assessment skills to enhance their personal practice and their work with students. These are most effectively used in a one-on-one environment; however the practitioner or teacher can also benefit from a greater understanding of assessment techniques for use in group settings.

This course is a core curriculum requirement for Pranakriya's 300-hour program (unless you took Holding Space prior to October 2020. In that case, it can be used as an elective). Completion of this course provides 20 CEUs with Yoga Alliance. Registration closes 48 hours before the course begins.

The Crofton Yoga Story

In 2003, Jacci Gruninger opened a one studio room, Crofton Yoga for Every Body

(CY) in the Chelsea House on Route Three in Crofton. Within the year she expended to a second studio. In 2007, Jacci, Shelbi Miles and Emily Gretz established Park Yoga, LLC and opened Park Yoga (in affiliation with CY) on Rte 2 in Severna Park. The three ran and operated Park for 18 months at which time Jacci made a family decision to move to the West. Shelbi and Emily bought CY from Jacci and Park Yoga was sold so that they could concentrate on growing the Crofton business. In 2010, Crofton Yoga was moved to its current location at 2431 Crofton Lane where it continues to support the Crofton and surrounding communities with quality, yoga for mind, body and spirit; YOGA for EVERY BODY.
