Northwestern Mental Health Center is a private, non-profit organization established in 1962. We are a certified community mental health center that serves individuals, children and families in six northwestern Minnesota counties including Kittson, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Polk and Red Lake. Our organization provides a full range of mental health and substance use disorder services.
In January 2017, Northwestern Mental Health Center was designated as one of six Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics in Minnesota. Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics(CCBHCs) were created through The Excellence in Mental Health Act โโโโโโdemonstration program to expand Americansโ access to mental health and addiction care in community-based settings. The federal demonstration project is measuring how well an integrated community clinic model of care can improve service quality and accessibility. CCBHCs take a person-centered approach that looks at the whole health (physical health, mental health and social service needs) of the individual. They provide a comprehensive set of services that promote recovery, wellness and trauma-informed care. CCBHCs serve adults, adolescents and children, as well as placing a special emphasis on active and veteran military care.
NWMHC has more than 150 staff members who represent psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health professionals, mental health practitioners, peer recovery specialists and administrative professionals. Northwestern Mental Health Center works with a team of professionals throughout the community to assure that those seeking assistance receive the best possible options for their care, recovery and wellness.
