Cataract Surgery Now Available at MLHS

Mille Lacs Health System is now offering cataract surgery services through a partnership with Dr. Adam Ahlquist of Great River Eye Clinic. Dr. Ahlquist provides cataract surgery evaluations and performs surgeries at MLHS, with post-operative follow-up care provided on site by Dr. Ken Dodge of Pierz Eyecare.

This collaboration expands access to cataract care for patients in our community.

Meet Dr. Cassie Mairs

1. What year did you start working for Great River Eye Clinic? 2010
2. How old were you when you knew you wanted to be a Dr? Any fun story behind why? I started wearing glasses in elementary school, so knew how life-changing an eye exam can be! By the time I was in high school, I knew I wanted to enter the medical field as I enjoyed science/biology, and wanted to be in a profession where I could help people.
3. Where were you born? Lisbon, ND
4. What year, and where did you graduate college? 2005-North Dakota State University and 2009-Pacific College of Optometry
5. What is your favorite type of eye exam to perform? I like the variety of eye exams we see in our practice-I could have an 8-month old infant exam, followed by a cataract surgery post-op back to back!
6. How many kids do you have? Two-ages 5 and 3
7. What are your hobbies? Reading, fishing/boating, watching sports (especially NDSU bison football and Twins baseball) and enjoying the outdoors with my family
8. What is your favorite candy? Tropical mike & Ike's
