This month's Made in Minnesota we featured Spam lunch meat out of Austin, Minnesota. We learned about the history, watched a video on how it was made, and of course sampled spam with a little cheese and crackers.🥓🧀

A few fun facts...

Spam was introduced on July 5, 1937 by Jay Hormel, owner of Hormel Foods.

A can of spam cost approximately $.25 a can...today at Walmart $4.14 a can. 💲

Spam is formed in the can as a liquid and then cooked. 👨‍🍳

There are over 20 flavors of spam. From their original all the way to Figgy Pudding that was introduced in 20222. It is supposed to represent the British Christmas Dessert. 🍮

We loved welcoming Jackson Purfeerst Mayor of Crosslake for a relaxed donuts-and-coffee chat with our residents ☕🍩
Residents enjoyed asking questions about our beloved town, learning more about upcoming improvements, and sharing stories about Crosslake’s rich history and how our community changes with the seasons.

It was a wonderful morning full of conversation, connection, and hometown pride—and we’re already looking forward to his next visit!

Yesterday a few residents went for lunch at Andy's Bar and Grill right here in Crosslake. 🍔 As we loaded one resident said, "Can we take another ride around the block? It's just nice to be out.". So Katie gave us a guided tour around town for a bit!👩‍✈️🚌 Smiles had by all!! 😀
