💡 Why Do PTs & OTs Use Cupping and Dry Needling in Outpatient Therapy?
In outpatient rehabilitation, our goal isn’t just temporary relief — it’s helping you move better, function better, and return to the activities that matter most.
Two tools we may use as part of your individualized plan of care are cupping therapy and dry needling.
🔹 Dry Needling
Targets tight or irritated muscle trigger points to:
✔ Decrease pain
✔ Improve muscle activation
✔ Restore mobility
✔ Reduce chronic tension
🔹 Cupping Therapy
Uses gentle suction to lift soft tissue and promote circulation, which can:
✔ Improve tissue mobility
✔ Reduce inflammation
✔ Decrease muscle tightness
✔ Support recovery
✨ These techniques are never “stand-alone” treatments. They are combined with:
• Corrective exercise
• Neuromuscular re-education
• Functional training
• Manual therapy
• Patient education
In outpatient PT and OT, we treat the whole person — not just the symptom. Cupping and dry needling help prepare the body so you can get the most out of your therapy sessions and long-term results.
If you’re dealing with pain, stiffness, or movement limitations, we’d love to help.
