We want to introduce you to Cara Cross, who recently joined our Gentiva family and filled the role of patient care manager. Cara says, "I am from Crossville, Tennessee. I am a registered nurse and spent 12 years as an emergency room nurse at Cookeville Regional. For the past few years, I worked from home. I have a son who is married, and my daughter is a freshman at UT! I am glad to be a part of the Gentiva family and hope to serve the community with excellence and integrity." We are glad you found your way to hospice care with us, Cara!

We recently had the privilege to coordinate and attend the Tennessee Nurse Honor Guard ceremony held for our patient, Louise Lavin. She worked as a nurse practitioner for many years, providing care and comfort to her patients. Special thanks to the volunteers of the Tennessee Nurse Honor Guard. They are a group of retired RNs and LPNs who pay tribute to those who, like themselves, dedicate their lives to helping others. Most of all, we want to thank Ms. Lavin for being a healthcare hero with her heart to serve. Gentiva Hospice is honored to help provide care for her and be a comfort to her family in this season of her life. We would love to do the same for you or your loved one. It is always a touching moment when we are able to honor a veteran patient for their service and sacrifice. We did just that today for Mr. Daniel Fletcher and his wife Debbie. Our veteran volunteer, Peter Merrill, presented a beautiful certificate along with other items, including a star cut from a retired flag as a remembrance for Mr. Fletcher's time of service to our country. Lindsey Holland, executive director; Jacqueline VanWinkle, social worker; and Melanie Phillips, volunteer coordinator, were also in attendance. Special thanks to the Ewe Can Knit Club for donating the beautiful afghan for the occasion. We were thrilled to receive some beautiful blankets from the Ewe Can Knit group for our hospice patients. Dianne Limoges leads this local group, which has been meeting at the Art Circle Library for 10+ years. They often donate their creations to local causes, and Gentiva Hospice Crossville is grateful to have been added to the list. The blankets not only serve to keep patients warm but also to show a little extra love from their community. We thank Dianne and the Ewe Can Knit members for sharing their needlework talents with us. THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the 20th Annual Gentiva Food Drive! We are excited to deliver to The Little Red Shed at Crab Orchard Community Church and grateful for the work they do in a challenged community. Their outreach includes many people with little resources, often without a way to cook or water access. We collected many food items that can fill a hungry spot, fit in a backpack, and be a quick source of nutrition. We are reminded of how much we sometimes take for granted in our daily lives and are glad for the opportunity to be a help to those in need. Again, we appreciate your giving and the difference it will make!
