Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness among adults. Yet more than half of those with diabetes skip their annual eye exams.

More than 9 in 10 people believe an annual physical is important, but less than two-thirds actually schedule one. Why is that?

🌿👀 Protect Your Eyes While You Tackle the Yard! 👀🌿
With spring in full swing, many of us are spending more time outside—mowing, trimming, and cleaning up the yard. But there’s one thing that often gets overlooked…Your eyes.

Using a w**d eater or mower can send debris flying at high speeds—rocks, sticks, and dust can cause serious eye injuries in an instant.
🚨 It only takes one second to cause lasting damage.
Here’s how to protect yourself:
✔️ Wear impact-resistant safety glasses (not just sunglasses)
✔️ Use wraparound protection to shield from side debris
✔️ Keep a safe distance from others while trimming
✔️ Never assume “it won’t happen to me”
We see it every year—preventable injuries that could have been avoided with simple protection.
👓 Your vision is too valuable to risk.
Before you fire up that w**d eater tomorrow, ask yourself:
👉 “Do I have the right protection on?”
Stay safe, and enjoy the yard work the right way!

Lifting weights is widely seen as a younger person’s activity. But is strength training something older people can benefit from, as well?

01/23/2026

(January 23, 2026 | 11 a.m. CT) The winter storm will bring dangerously cold temperatures to Tennessee that could last for several days. Take steps to help prevent frozen or burst pipes:

💧 Let faucets drip — moving water is less likely to freeze.
🪣 Place a bucket under the drip to save water, if you'd like.
🚪 Open cabinet doors to allow warm air to reach pipes under sinks.

A few simple actions now can help prevent major damage later.

Regular physical activity helps lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure — while also improving mood and overall well-being. Even small amounts of movement each day make a big difference!

Here are a few ways to keep moving this winter:
🏃‍♀️ Take short walks indoors or outdoors (bundle up and watch for icy spots!)
🧘 Try at-home exercise videos or stretching routines
🚶 Use stairs instead of elevators when possible
👨‍👩‍👧 Make activity a family event — play in the snow, dance, or enjoy winter hikes

No matter the weather, every step counts toward a healthier Tennessee.
