Croton On Hudson Emergency Medical Services

Croton On Hudson Emergency Medical Services Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services provides ambulance service to the Village of Croton

Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services is a volunteer organization, assisted by Paid Staffing. That means that although there is always one paid EMT/Driver on duty 24/7, they require a volunteer EMT or Driver to complete a crew. Much of the time, the Paid staff does not need to crew the ambulance, due to the presence to of a volunteer EMT and Driver.

With the incoming snow storm, Croton EMS will be on standby in the building with two full crews. We ask that once the snow starts, please stay home and off the roads to make it easier for DPW to keep roads clear for your first responders. The more people on the roads, the more dangerous it becomes for everyone involved. If supplies are needed please be sure to acquire them today. Everyone please stay safe and warm!

After braving a couple of snowy weeks, we’re excited to spotlight our president, Bill McCabe! Bill grew up in Ossining and began his journey in emergency services volunteering with OVAC Explorer Post 1418. He later became a life member of both Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Briarcliff Manor Fire Department. After moving to Croton, Bill joined and became a founding member of the Board of Directors at Croton EMS 17 years ago. Altogether, he has dedicated more than 37 years to emergency services, serving in roles including Captain, Vice President, and most recently, President of CEMS. Outside of EMS, Bill is a retired telecommunications technician who enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family—and you know he’s loyal, because he’s a diehard New York Jets fan!

Thank you to the Village for recognizing our top responders! It meant more to us than you know!

Last evening, members of the Village Board presented the top responders at Croton EMS with certificates of recognition for their service to the community. In 2025, Croton EMS responded to more than 1,000 calls for service and each of the top responders answered at least 50 of those calls!

During the 36 hours our crews stood by during the storm Croton EMS responded to 7 requests for assistance. Of those requests 1 was dispatched with FD assistance. We want to thank Croton on Hudson Fire Department with their assistance as they made sure our crew had a clear path to the ambulance prior to us transporting the patient to the ER.
