TRR St John Chaotic Kayak Race

TRR St John Chaotic Kayak Race To provide veterans an opportunity to find health, healing, community purpose through paddlesports. The island community of St. John since 2007.

John will be out again in force this year Sunday October 30th to support Team River Runner's 2022 Wounded Veterans program fundraiser. In 2011 a total of 16 teams took part in what was the first annual St. John Chaotic Kayak race on Oppenheimer Beach, 2017 ramped up to 40 teams! 100% of the proceeds will be used to bring wounded veterans and their spouses down island every November for one week of healing in the beautiful waters of St. John

Team River Runner (TRR) was founded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2004 by Washington, D.C. area kayak enthusiast Joe Mornini who has been hosting trips for TRR members to St. While the group was forced to cancel its 2008 trip due to lack of funds, that will never be the case again with the continual support of the St John community. The island community of St. John will be out again in force this year on Sunday, July 30th for the Chaotic Kayak Race supporting Team River Runner. Since 2007, TRR, an adventure and adaptive paddling program for wounded and disabled veterans, has been bringing vets to the island for a week-long leadership clinic. After the clinic, vets return to their local TRR chapter with goals to teach newfound skills with other vets, share the power of paddling and grow the program. 100% of the proceeds from this year’s Chaotic Kayak Race will bring veterans back to St. John at the end of October.
