WHY DO 108 SUN SALUTATIONS?!
🌞 The spiritual meaning
In yoga and Eastern traditions, 108 is considered a sacred number.
• There are 108 energy lines (nadis) that converge at the heart
• Mala beads have 108 beads for meditation
• In some traditions, there are 108 names of the divine
• It represents wholeness, completion, and connection to the universe
So doing 108 sun salutations becomes like a moving meditation / prayer—each round is almost like a bead on a mala.

🔥 The physical + mental challenge
Let’s be honest… it’s also a bit of a “who even am I after this?” experience.
• Builds strength + endurance
• Creates a deep internal heat (tapas)
• Forces you into mental focus when your brain wants to quit at like… 27
It’s less about perfection and more about:
staying present when things get uncomfortable
⸻
🌿 The energetic reset
People often do 108 on:
• Solstices
• New Year
• Seasonal transitions
Why?
Because it’s like a full-body, full-mind reset button
You’re:
• Clearing stagnant energy
• Letting stuff rise up (emotionally too, not just sweat 😅)
• Creating space for something new
⸻
💛 The deeper reason (the one you feel after)
Somewhere around… I don’t know… 60-ish…
Something shifts.
You stop “doing yoga”
and it becomes breath… movement… rhythm… almost trance-like
That’s the magic.
⸻
Real talk
No one does 108 because it’s easy.
They do it because:
• it’s meaningful
• it’s a little wild
• and you walk away thinking
“okay… I’m stronger than I thought”
Oh. - and you get a sweatshirt!
