Breastfeeding can feel frustrating when latching does not happen right away.

But one thing parents often forget is this:
👉🏽Your baby has never had to do this before.

Before birth, your baby was getting everything they needed through the umbilical cord. They did not have to breathe on their own, coordinate their jaw, use their tongue, or latch to feed.

So when they are born, their body is learning a lot very quickly.

For many babies, that process happens naturally. For others, there may be a learning curve.

That is why we look at how the baby’s body is moving, adapting, and functioning, especially when there are feeding or latch challenges.

Sometimes the issue is not that your baby “won’t latch.”

Sometimes their body is still learning how.

Dear Future Self... Thank you for being healthy and regulated. Thank you for choosing prevention. 💚

This is the letter I want to write to myself 10, 20, 30 years from now.
Thank you for being healthy when so many people around you are managing chronic pain, popping pills daily, and feeling like their body is betraying them.
Thank you for being regulated when others are burnt out, anxious, running on fumes, stuck in survival mode with no capacity left.
Thank you for investing in your nervous system before crisis forced you to.

I know it felt weird at first. Going to the chiropractor when nothing hurt or getting adjusted regularly when you “felt fine.”

People asked “why are you going if nothing’s wrong?”
But you knew. You knew something most people don’t realize until it’s too late:
By the time pain shows up, dysfunction has been building for months or years. By the time symptoms appear, your nervous system has been compensating, adapting, struggling. By the time crisis hits, recovery is long and difficult.
You chose differently.
You chose to support your spine and nervous system BEFORE imbalance became pain. Before compensation became chronic and before dysfunction became crisis.
You showed up for yourself consistently - not because something was wrong, but because you wanted to keep things RIGHT.

3 signs you can benefit from chiropractic (and they have nothing to do with back pain). 💚

SIGN #1: Short fuse. Small things set you off. You snap, you’re irritable, you can’t calm down. Everyone says “just relax” but you CAN’T.
Your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight. Your vagus nerve (the main “calm down” nerve) exits at your upper cervical spine - when your upper neck is out of balance, vagus nerve function is compromised and your ability to shift from stress to calm is impaired.

SIGN #2: Shoulders by your ears. Chronic neck, shoulder, upper back tension. Massages help for two days then tension returns.
When you’re chronically stressed, your body takes a protective posture - shoulders elevate, neck tightens, you’re bracing for impact even at your desk. Forward head posture creates upper cervical imbalance, which affects vagus nerve, which makes it harder to calm down, which creates more tension.

SIGN #3: Can’t handle stress like you used to. Things that didn’t bother you now feel overwhelming. Exhausted but can’t sleep. Anxious but can’t calm down. Small stressors feel like major crises. Your nervous system has been running on fumes so long it’s lost resilience. Stuck in sympathetic overdrive with no ability to downregulate.

If you checked even ONE box, you can benefit from chiropractic.
All three signs point to the same root cause: nervous system dysregulation.
And nervous system regulation starts with brain-body balance.

Your short fuse isn’t a character flaw. Your tight shoulders aren’t just from “stress.” Your inability to handle stress isn’t weakness. It’s your nervous system stuck in survival mode - often caused by spinal imbalance blocking your body’s ability to regulate.

Latch struggles can be incredibly frustrating for parents.

But sometimes, the issue is not only about positioning or feeding technique.

Depending on the birth process, some babies may have tension or limitations in the upper neck that make it harder to comfortably turn their head, open their jaw, or get into the right position to latch.

That does not mean every latch issue is the same.

Tongue ties, oral restrictions, feeding support, lactation care, and body tension can all be part of the bigger picture.

Our goal is to help parents understand what may be contributing to the struggle so their baby has a better chance to feed, rest, and regulate well.

Sometimes the small details matter most.

The body is always communicating.

👉🏽Sometimes that communication shows up as tension.
👉🏽Sometimes it shows up as latch challenges.
👉🏽Sometimes it shows up as digestion issues.
👉🏽Sometimes it shows up as a baby who just seems uncomfortable or unsettled.

That is why we use rolling thermal scans.

The scan helps us look at patterns of stress along the spine, where the nervous system is constantly sending messages between the brain and body.

It gives us more information so we can make better decisions.

Not guesses.

Not one size fits all care.

Your child’s nervous system is learning early.

Really early.

The more we can help calm and support that system from infancy on, the more we are helping lay a foundation that can impact them for years to come.

Early in life, the brain and body are learning how to respond to stress, sensory input, and the world around them.

And by the time a child gets older, a lot of those response patterns have already been wired in.

Can those patterns change later in life?
Yes.

But it is usually a lot harder.

That is why I care so much about helping support the nervous system early, because when we do that, we are not just thinking about today.

We are thinking about how that child is going to adapt, regulate, and respond later in life too.

The goal is to help lay the foundation for a more balanced nervous system, better communication between brain and body, and a healthier response to stress as they grow.

You’re exhausted all day. But the second you get in bed? Wide awake, mind racing, and your body is restless. 😴⚡

You’re stuck in “tired but wired.” This means you are exhausted but can’t sleep. Your mind won’t shut off and lying there for hours. Maybe you are waking at 2-3am unable to fall back asleep? And even more tired in the morning than when you went to bed.

You’re desperate for rest. But your nervous system won’t let you.

Here’s what’s actually happening: Your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight (sympathetic mode) even though you’re exhausted. To sleep, you need to shift into rest-and-restore (parasympathetic). But chronic stress, cortisol dysregulation, and compensation patterns are blocking that shift.

When your upper neck or sacrum are misaligned, your nervous system PHYSICALLY CAN’T activate rest mode. Your vagus nerve (the main “calm down” nerve) exits at C1. Your parasympathetic pathways run through your sacrum. Imbalance = interference.

Why sleep aids don’t work: Melatonin doesn’t fix WHY your body isn’t producing it. Sleep meds force unconsciousness but don’t shift your nervous system (quality suffers). You can’t force rest, you have to support the shift.

Before you convince yourself your baby has every latching issue on the internet, take a breath 😮‍💨.

My recommendation is usually this:
What is the simplest option first?
Then how do we scale up only if we need to?

A lot of babies are experiencing stress right from birth.
And when the nervous system is stressed, feeding can feel harder than it should.

That is why I often recommend getting baby checked and adjusted early, because as we help calm that stress response, we can create a better environment for latch and feeding to improve.

And if there is still a consistent issue, that is when I refer out and bring in other trusted therapies.

Simple first.
Then specific if needed.
