Our first Leadership Forum of the new year set the tone for 2026, with a clear focus on how innovation, technology, and teamwork will continue to shape the future of care at TGH. Leaders highlighted how AI is already making a meaningful impact, including the use of DAX Copilot in more than 300,000 patient visits, helping reduce documentation time for physicians and nurses and creating more space for patient-centered care.

The conversation also emphasized our commitment to protecting patient information and ensuring every AI tool is carefully vetted before it is put into practice. A broader discussion on patient safety and experience highlighted early progress tied to our new nursing structure, along with powerful frontline perspectives from orthopedic nurses who shared how consistency, teamwork, and attention to detail are improving care every day.

We also had some fun at the forum, with President & CEO, John Couris, manning a slingshot and launching t-shirts into the crowd to build excitement for Innovation Week next month! The forum closed with a forward-looking focus on fostering bold ideas, collaboration, and continuous improvement as we move through the year ahead.

While many spent the holidays at home, members of our team at TGH Crystal River were here, caring for patients and families who needed us on Christmas Day. Across the hospital, team members showed up with the same compassion, focus and dedication they bring to their work every day, whether at the bedside, supporting loved ones or keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes.

Hospital leadership spent part of the day rounding throughout the hospital to personally thank team members working the holiday and share a small gesture of appreciation. It was a simple moment of gratitude and recognition for the hard work happening across the hospital.

It was a reminder that while the holidays may look different for those on shift, our commitment to care never changes. Merry Christmas from all of us at TGH Crystal River! 🎄💙

This holiday season, we’re sharing a story that reflects the spirit of compassion, partnership and hope that guides our work year round.

Bobbie Rodriguez’s journey brought him face to face with cancer, homelessness and uncertainty. A chance encounter connected him with Amber Martin, Senior Director of Case Management at TGH, who helped get him life-changing surgery performed by Dr. Matthew Mifsud, expert surgical oncologist with TGH and USF Health-University of South Florida.

Together with our partners at The Salvation Army USA, Tampa General Hospital helped surround Bobbie with medical care, housing and resources at a critical moment. Stories like this remind us what’s possible when a community comes together to help those in need. 💙

Leaders from across our academic health system gathered for our monthly Leadership Forum, a chance to come together around progress, innovation and impact at Tampa General Hospital.

This month’s forum highlighted how AI continues to take shape across the organization, including AIMEE, our new digital co-worker that has already handled more than 600,000 calls and helped reduce call wait times by 58 percent. Leaders also heard updates on a range of additional initiatives across the system and how this work, paired with a strong culture of reliability, is contributing to improved patient outcomes in a big way.

We closed the forum with a screening of a short film featuring Amber Martin, MSW, LCSW, Senior Director of Case Management at TGH, and a patient whose life-changing surgery was made possible through her advocacy and support from The Salvation Army. Moments like these reflect the compassion, teamwork and commitment behind the care we deliver every day.
