We’re saddened to share that 3rd Coast Clinic, a program of the Cudahy Health Department, will pause operations until further notice due to recent funding cuts impacting reproductive health services.

This decision comes after months of uncertainty around federal and state funding streams that are vital to sustaining comprehensive family planning and reproductive health care.

On June 19, 1865, nearly two years after President Abraham Lincoln emancipated enslaved Africans in America, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. More than 250,000 African Americans embraced freedom by executive decree in what became known as Juneteenth or Freedom Day.

🚨 Let's talk about Measles 🚨

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that starts with fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and sore throat, followed by a rash. It can lead to complications like pneumonia, ear infections, and encephalitis (brain swelling)

How it spreads:
Measles spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and can linger in the air for up to 2 hours.

Symptoms:
• High fever
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Red, watery eyes
• Blotchy rash

Prevention:
The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) is the best way to protect against measles.
• First dose at 12-15 months
• Second dose at 4-6 years

Keep your community safe—get vaccinated! 💉
