Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that starts with fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and sore throat, followed by a rash. It can lead to complications like pneumonia, ear infections, and encephalitis (brain swelling)
How it spreads:
Measles spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and can linger in the air for up to 2 hours.
Symptoms:
โข High fever
โข Cough
โข Runny nose
โข Red, watery eyes
โข Blotchy rash
Prevention:
The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) is the best way to protect against measles.
โข First dose at 12-15 months
โข Second dose at 4-6 years
