Happy Massage Therapy Awareness Week!

Did you know…Massage reduces scar tissue build-up by promoting increased blood circulation to the affected area, which can enhance the delivery of nutrients and oxygen necessary for healing?

The mechanical pressure applied during massage helps to break down fibrous tissue and realign collagen fibers, making the scar tissue more flexible and less dense.

Additionally, massage can reduce inflammation and swelling, further aiding in the remodeling and softening of the scar tissue.

Is it time to rethink your approach to a healthy lifestyle? Are you on the right path?

A scalp massage is a great way to relieve stress and get your hair in tip-top shape.

Here's how to do it:
Sit down in a comfortable chair, and make sure you have some time set aside.
Apply light to medium pressure on your head with your fingertips or massage tool. Move around your scalp in small circular motions, covering all areas of your head and paying special attention to the base of the skull where tension can build up over time!
Massage for a minimum of 5 minutes, making sure to cover every inch of your head so that no area is left untouched!

Is your pain keeping you from enjoying life? It doesn't have to be. With the help of therapeutic massage, you can find relief from your pain and get back to living a full life. Massage works on multiple levels to relieve pain: it relaxes painful muscles, tendons, and joints; it relieves stress and anxiety; and it may even help to “close the pain gate” by stimulating competing nerve fibers and impeding pain messages to and from the brain.

Yes, you may be able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for massage therapy, but only if you have a letter of medical necessity or if your plan specifically allows it.

You should speak with your plan administrator before using these accounts for massage therapy. If you have an HSA, you must submit a letter from your physician stating that massage therapy is medically necessary. If you do not have an HSA, but your employer has a flexible spending account (FSA), then the plan administrator will need to approve the request before any funds can be withdrawn from the account.

If you're living with lower back pain, it's time to say goodbye to it. The right massage can help you relieve tension and reduce inflammation in your soft tissues, which will help you heal faster, feel better, and live pain-free. Therapeutic massage therapy is a complementary and alternative medicine that involves the manipulation of the body's soft tissues through specialized hands-on movements. The purpose of therapeutic massage is to influence cellular changes in the soft tissues that promote healing, reduce pain, and enhance overall wellness. In the lower back, massage therapy affects the muscular and skeletal systems at the superficial and deep layers to foster healing and reduce pain.
