🦠 Dirty Dozen = the fruits and veggies with the
highest pesticide residues. Always try to buy these organic if you can afford it. (These are still better than any ultra processed food!)

🧼 Clean 15 = produce with natural protection (like a peel or husk), and generally safe to buy conventional.

General rule: If it has a thick peel (like an avocado or banana) it's likely safer. If you eat the whole thing, like spinach or strawberries — go organic.

Not sure what to bring or serve for Thanksgiving appetizers yet? This is a family favorite -- Quick, yummy and good for you!? Yes! This checks all the boxes!

10-minute Pumpkin Protein Hummus!

1 15-ounce can cannellini beans
2/3 cup pureed pumpkin (unsweetened)
2 TB lemon juice
2 TB tahini
½ tsp Himalayan pink salt
½ tsp ground cumin
¾ tsp smoked paprika
¼ tsp cinnamon
Pinch fresh ground black pepper, to taste
¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
2 TB extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped or minced
5 sprigs of fresh thyme, destem and reserve leaves
Organic crudité, pita bread, gluten-free crackers (optional accompaniments)

A summertime staple, watermelon lives up to its name because it’s super watery! You can tell when you bite into a juicy, crunchy piece of watermelon that this fruit is supplying you with plenty of water. It’s also a good provider of vitamin C and A!

Another little known fact about this hydrating fruit? The edible seeds are full of healthy fats, plus they contain minerals and some protein!

Food of the week spotlight - Walnuts! Walnuts are a staple in our household -- and isn't it amazing that they are shaped like the very organ they are great for -- the brain!? 🧠

Thank you, Dr. Naidoo for an overview on the benefits of walnuts and how they can help nourish your brain and calm your mind! Just 1/4 cup of day can be beneficial, too! We eat them by the handful, toss in granola, and add to our favorite sour dough goodies like pancakes and banana breads!
