National Farmworker Awareness Week is a time to recognize the people who keep our communities nourished every single day. Farmworkers do essential work that often goes unseen, facing long hours and challenging conditions to make sure food reaches our tables.

This week, we honor their strength, resilience, and contributions while also raising awareness about the barriers many still face when it comes to healthcare, fair wages, and safe working conditions. Supporting farmworkers means advocating for equity, access, and dignity for all. 🌱

Meet the Staff Monday 👏🏼🥰

This week we’re introducing Lindsay Whitner, our Development Assistant, who joined Vecinos at the end of December!

Lindsay has really enjoyed getting to talk with our donors and hearing why Vecinos matters to them. She says it’s inspiring to see how much people care about this work, and she enjoys finding creative ways to connect more people to the mission - especially through monthly giving that helps sustain care for our community. She also shared that the team at Vecinos has been incredibly welcoming since she started!

Fun fact: Lindsay hopes to one day work in landscape design creating healing gardens. She’s already taking classes and spends a lot of time in her own garden, which is her favorite place to relax and be outside. 🌷🌱

Vecinos recently held a team training focused on strengthening communication and collaboration across our staff. We were grateful to have support from Cenzontle Language Justice Cooperative, whose interpreters helped ensure bilingual access throughout the training.

At Vecinos, we believe that creating a just and equal workplace means making space for everyone to participate in the language they are most comfortable with. By using interpreters, our team members are able to share ideas, ask questions, and fully engage in the conversation.

When everyone can communicate freely, every voice is heard—and every voice is valued. 💙💪🏼
