Our first-ever Art & Dying event at The Fralin Museum of Art was completely sold out!

Grief doesn’t always speak in full sentences. Sometimes, it hides behind silence. Or, waits for a safe space to be seen.

In this imaginative grief workshop, we’ll use sock puppetry to explore what’s hard to say aloud. Create a puppet, give it a voice, and let it tell part of your story.

At Hospice of the Piedmont’s Journeys Camp, kids gather to remember loved ones, share stories, and discover they’re not alone. Grief can be tough, especially for children, but with support, connection, and moments like this, healing begins.

This is “The Death of Eudamidas” by Bruno Civitico, one of the works we’ll explore together at Art & Dying, a new event co-hosted by Hospice of the Piedmont and The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia.

Through small-group conversations guided by a museum educator and a hospice death doula, we’ll reflect on death through the lens of art.

That’s why we created Mending the Line, a day-long fly-fishing workshop for men navigating the death of a loved one.

💬 “Is hospice just for people who are dying?”

That’s one of the most common questions we hear. And it’s one of the many questions Hannah will be answering at this year’s Active Aging Fair at The Center at Belvedere.

If you’re wondering about when to start care, how insurance works, or whether you can still see your own doctor, come ask Hannah, our Community Navigator. She’ll be there to answer your questions and help you explore how hospice or palliative care might help someone you love.
