This past Friday I had the opportunity to attend the Pan African Film Festival and catch a free screening and panel discussion on The [M] Factor 2.

It was powerful to see menopause on the big screen in a space that celebrates culture and storytelling. Conversations that were once whispered are continuing to step into the spotlight.

An important thing to note is that women of color tend to experience menopause sooner than their caucasian counterparts and they tend to get less menopause care as well.

This is a film everyone should absolutely see. It will be in theaters across the country and airing on PBS in March, so keep an eye out for it.

What I appreciated most is that this is not just a film for women. A group of husbands appear in the documentary, and their perspective is enlightening. Menopause is not solely a woman issue. If there are women in your life that you love and care about, this is for you too.

The conversation is growing, and this film is an important part of it.
