We made it to the top of Baldwin Hills Overlook today🙌🏽 So proud of us! We saw a herd of goats for w**d control🐐
My 18 yr old son joined as a volunteer. He said “Moms think so much about their babies” and that’s so true🥹💕

Hi beautiful people! I’m planning to do another walking & picnic group in July. I know it’s hard to be on time when you’re pregnant or with a baby but I decided to wait only for 15 min to start walking because generally babies hates being still they need to get going! If you think you’ll be late, you can wait at the parking lot for us to be back or go ahead and wait at the grass area of Culver Park next to the playground. It was a perfect day for the walk and picnic today! We got to walk up half way to the overlook and got tons of vitamin D from the sun. Babies played on blankets and a toddler played at the playground🧡 Next one will be in July!

Japanese birthworkers in Southern California( as far as we knew) was just me and 6,7 years ago and I found . And now look at us! Konomy and are the new doulas recently joined us. We are 5 of us LA and SD combine. This picture makes my hearts so warm💕

I’m beyond grateful for my family and my work family💜
Here’s my 2024 recap! Hope I remember everything lol
-Attended 46 births (private and at KSLA) of wonderful families💜💜💜
-Caught my first surprise breech vaginal birth
-I turned 50 years old
-My kids all had graduation this year (Graduate school, high school and middle school)
-I went to Izumo shrine to find an answer to my vision I saw earlier in the year and also to search my spiritual roots
-Visited to meet Midiwfe Yoko and stayed at her birth center.
Yoko introduced me to Midiwfe Ai .home.ai_sun and Midwife Midiwfe Shiho .jyosanin They all owns beautiful birth centers. Such a precious experience to meet them and talk about midwifery. So grateful for them to welcome me with their open arms.
- Also met up with Miyuki which we connected online but first time meeting in person. She is a mom who is passionate about supporting midwives and out of hospital births. We have started doing Instagram lives recently called “ What’s Up World” to talk about topics around births, midwifery, education etc.

Yoko Akatsuka, a midwife who owns a birth center in Gifu, Japan visiting LA came to see us at Kindred Space LA. She has 35 years of experience as a midwife and her birth center is celebrating 20 year anniversary this year. Helped bring close to 1000 babies to this world! There was a birth going on yesterday but they came right after birth which was perfect! We talked how we shared similar struggles and problems. Pregnancy and births are so universal! I met her 6 years ago when she visited LA when I was only a first year midwifery student. It was so inspiring to meet her again after becoming a midwife myself. I was gifted a lot of books about Japanese midwifery and stories of midwife in old times, which I am super excited to read!!! I promised to come see her soon. Thank you Yoko-san!
6年前にまだ私が助産学生一年目の頃に、ロサンゼルスでお会いしたゆりかご助産院の赤塚庸子さんが再びロサンゼルスに来られていて、私が働くバースセンターを見学に来てくださいました。ちょうど昨日はお産があり終わった頃に来られて助産師のキムも交えて色々な話をしてやはり妊娠もお産も助産師であることも世界共通であること、助産種として立ち向かう課題や悩みも同じだと言うことがわかりました。35年の助産師歴、今年助産院の設立20周年の助産師の大先輩(取り上げた赤ちゃん1000人近く！すごい！)に、助産師になってからお会い出来たことも感慨深く、優しい言葉をかけて頂きとても勇気付けられました🙏🏼日本からの本(日本の助産師をテーマにした歴史小説や助産師のバイブル的な本など)をたくさんプレゼントして頂きました。読むのが楽しみです。次は私がゆりかご助産院を見学させていただくと言うお約束をしました。庸子さんありがとうございました🙏🏼💜

日曜日のホリスティック産前産後グループは7組の参加者で賑わいました！パートナーの参加率は過去最高でした。ドゥーラ純子さんが残念ながら欠席でしたがサンディエゴのドゥーラ貴代さんがジョインしてくださり、バースプランの作り方や、お産、産後の準備など様々なテーマでお話しをしました🥰次回は6月に予定しています！参加ご希望の方は遠慮なくDMください。
