Your child is not “too sensitive.”
Their nervous system is overloaded.

A lot of children who are deeply reactive are not being dramatic.
Their systems are processing more stimulation, more stress, and more emotional input than people realize.
And when that builds throughout the day…
Even very small moments can feel overwhelming.

Hi, I’m Erin Badour, Speech Pathologist and Neurofeedback Specialist.
I help parents understand what’s actually happening in their child’s brain and nervous system - so behavior starts making more sense.

This is the work I do with families every day - helping parents support what’s underneath the reaction.

You’re not lazy.
Your brain is exhausted from compensating all day.

A lot of adults I work with have spent years believing they just need to “try harder.”
But when we look closer…
We often find a brain that has been working overtime for a very long time.

Overcompensating.
Masking.
Pushing through.

And eventually, that level of effort catches up to the nervous system.

Hi, I’m Erin Badour, Speech Pathologist and Neurofeedback Specialist.
I help adults understand what’s actually happening underneath these patterns - so things finally start making sense.
This is work I do every day in my clinics, helping people understand and address these patterns at the level of the brain.

mental exhaustion, burnout, adult ADHD, nervous system, overcompensating

You’re not inconsistent.
Your brain never had a consistent system to rely on.

That’s a very different lens.
Because inconsistency sounds like a character issue.
But what I often see is something else entirely.

A brain that can access focus…
but can’t sustain it.

A system that works sometimes…
but isn’t stable.

And that creates the feeling of constantly starting over.

Hi, I’m Erin Badour, Speech Pathologist and Neurofeedback Specialist.
I help adults understand these patterns in a completely different way - so things finally start to make sense.
I do this work every day in my clinics - helping people address these patterns at the level of the brain.

Your child melts down over “small things”…
because their brain is already overloaded.

That moment at the end of the day…
when something tiny sets everything off…
It can feel confusing.
And exhausting.

But most of the time, it’s not about what just happened.
It’s everything that came before it.

A brain that’s been trying to keep up all day…
finally hits its limit.

It wasn’t anxiety.
It was a brain that never felt regulated.

That distinction really matters.
Because when we label something incorrectly,
we end up trying to manage that symptom…
instead of understanding what’s really underneath it.

A dysregulated brain can look like anxiety.
It can feel like anxiety.
But it doesn’t always come from the same place.

And if that’s the case,
the approach needs to be different.

Hi, I’m Erin Badour, Speech Pathologist and Neurofeedback Specialist.
In my clinics, I help people understand what’s actually happening in the brain - so patterns like this finally start to make sense.

You learned to overcompensate…
because something never clicked the way it should have.

A lot of adults I work with don’t realize this at first.

They just think:
“This is how I am.”
“Life is just that hard.”
“I’ve always had to try harder.”

But when we look closer…
There’s a pattern.

And it didn’t start in adulthood.
It started much earlier - in a brain that was never fully supported.

Your child isn’t ignoring you.
Their brain checked out a while ago.

That moment when you’re repeating yourself over and over again…
and nothing is landing…

It’s frustrating.

And it starts to feel intentional.

But most of the time, it isn’t.

It’s a brain that can’t hold attention…
and doesn’t know how to shift back once it’s gone.

And no one ever taught it how.

Hi, I’m Erin Badour, Speech Pathologist and Neurofeedback Specialist.
I help parents understand what’s actually happening in their child’s brain - so they can respond differently.
This is the work I do with families every day - helping parents understand what’s actually happening so they can support their child differently.

The kid who gets labeled “difficult”
…becomes the adult who thinks something is wrong with them.

That shift doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens slowly.
Through years of correction…
misunderstanding…
and trying to fix what’s visible without understanding what’s driving it.

Most people don’t question the label.
They carry it.
And build their identity around it.

This is something I work through with people every day - helping them understand what’s underneath those labels and where they actually came from.
