As we enter our final week of business at Spectrum Staffing, I’ve been sitting with a lot of gratitude, reflection, and emotion.

Spectrum was founded by my mom during a time when there was a real need in our community. She built it out of care, courage, and a deep desire to support both caregivers and the people who depend on them. What started as a response to a need became something so much bigger than any of us could have imagined.

To our community, thank you. Thank you for welcoming us, trusting us, and allowing us to walk beside you in some of the most important moments. Being invited into your homes, facilities, and lives has been a privilege we’ve never taken lightly.

To our team, thank you for choosing Spectrum as your employer. Thank you for your work ethic, your compassion, your flexibility, and your hearts. It has truly been an honor to support you, work with you, and grow alongside you.

Recently, someone told me they were sad to see us close and referred to Spectrum as one of our community’s “OG agencies.” To be thought of that way is something I’m incredibly proud of. It means we showed up, we stayed, and we mattered.

Although Spectrum’s chapter is coming to a close, our commitment to this community is not. We promise to continue to give back, to build, and to serve in new ways. We’ll make you proud. You’ll see. 🩵

An Important Update from Spectrum Staffing

After much reflection, we have made the difficult decision to close Spectrum Staffing. Our final day of operation will be January 31, 2026.

Spectrum was founded on the belief that high-quality care delivered by skilled, compassionate professionals, should always come first. More than ten years ago, this vision began with my mother, whose bravery and foresight led her to recognize the urgent need for supportive, reliable staffing in healthcare. She built Spectrum at a time when that need wasn’t always acknowledged, and her courage laid the foundation for everything that followed.

As the healthcare staffing landscape has shifted toward prioritizing cost over care, we’ve come to realize that continuing in this space no longer aligns with the standards and values Spectrum was built on.

We are incredibly proud of the work our team has done and deeply grateful to the clients and communities who trusted us over the years. Supporting residents and facilities across Maine has been an honor we will always carry with us.

As we turn the page, our focus will remain on creating environments where seniors can truly thrive- places where care is personal, consistent, and never compromised.

Thank you for being part of the Spectrum story, and to my mother, thank you for starting it with courage and heart.

Today we donated items to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness in Portland. It’s a small gesture, but one rooted in care, dignity, and community. We’re grateful to be in a position to give, and we’re reminded that kindness, especially in simple, practical ways, always matters. We'll always choose showing up where we can.

When we dropped off an Aroma Joe’s drink to our nurse Kacie today, she reminded us why she’s been with Spectrum for 10 years.

She said, “I’m not treated like a number.”

It's how what we want every person on our team to feel. Our staff are human beings with lives, families, strengths, and stories. We remember that every day and it’s the reason our culture is what it is.

Small Business Saturday always reminds us how lucky we are to do this work, to serve our neighbors, support our communities and run a truly local Maine business.

Spectrum Staffing & Home Care has been open for 10 years, and every bit of our growth and stability comes from one thing: the people of this state. Families who trust us. Caregivers who choose to work with us. Communities that welcome us into their homes and lives.

Our deepest gratitude goes to our team, the caregivers, nurses, our office team, schedulers, and support staff who keep this small business standing strong. They show up with heart, they show up with professionalism and they show up for the older adults who depend on us.

Today we’re celebrating all of you:
Maine families, Maine caregivers, and the Maine community that continues to make Spectrum what it is.

Yesterday I spent the day driving through Southern Maine delivering Thanksgiving meals to families who had reached out in need.

Some of the people I visited were doing everything they could just to keep a roof over their head, to afford their heat, to keep their electricity on or to buy themselves a few groceries. Walking into those homes was humbling and sad and it reminded me of how many seniors in our own communities are struggling more than they ever let on.

We know times aren’t always easy.

At Spectrum Staffing, we want our neighbors, especially our older population, to know that they are never alone.

We don't offer only medical staffing services. We also provide private-pay home care services for seniors who need extra support to remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes. If you know anyone in need of our care, please reach out. We would be honored to help.

Every holiday season, we hear from more families. Not because anyone’s at fault, but because adult children and grandchildren finally have the opportunity to slow down and spend time with their senior loved ones. They start to notice the quiet struggles, the changes and the needs that weren’t so obvious before.
