Today we officially welcomed Lucy to our Spectrum office! Lucy will be Courtney’s new partner, serving as Director of Human Resources and Employee Relations.

Lucy began her journey with Spectrum a few years ago as a caregiver before transferring to The Heron House as our House Manager. She poured her heart, soul, and sweat into helping The Heron House become the trusted, one-of-a-kind home that it is today. Under her leadership, she provided truly exceptional care to our housemates, unwavering support to our families, and steady mentorship to our team.

I still remember when we originally recruited Lucy from Spectrum to The Heron House. I handpicked her because she’d been making some noise in the communities she supported as a caregiver. She was known for being a strong and vocal advocate, and that’s something I’ve always loved about her.

Now, it’s time for Lucy to step into her next chapter, bringing those same strong values to Spectrum, where she’ll continue building meaningful relationships with our team and supportive connections with our clients.

We are absolutely thrilled and so proud to welcome Lucy to our administrative team, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Spectrum. Her energy, dedication, and loyalty in everything she does make us certain that Spectrum is in for some real extra goodness.

Our caregiver Hannah is helping out at our sister company, The Heron House. It's wild to me that someone can be so confident and flexible and patient and able to walk through any set of doors and find her way. We are really lucky to have Hannah on our team and our housemates at The Heron House have loved her warm presence and unwavering support while she's stepped in to help. 🩵

Courtney starts most days with a bagel and ends most days roasting Ronnie for one reason or another. In between, she works tirelessly to keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly. She keeps our team focused by setting and achieving meaningful goals, communicates personally with every employee to understand and support their needs and works hard to exceed the expectations of every community we serve.

A caregiver by trade, Courtney brings a unique perspective to our work. She understands our business on a deep level, connects effortlessly with our field team and has a natural ability to support communities with understanding and care.

Over the years, she has played an absolutely vital role in keeping us afloat and successful through changing tides, whether it’s staff turnover, industry shifts, or internal growth. Her flexibility and willingness to pivot without hesitation have been key to our ability to adapt, stabilize, and move forward with confidence.

What’s even more remarkable is that when Courtney clocks out as our Director of Operations, she often heads straight to our sister business where she provides direct care to the elderly housemates who absolutely adore her. It’s a testament to her work ethic and heart, as she leads with both in every role she fills.

When I think about what makes Spectrum special, Courtney is one of the first people who comes to mind. She’s been with us, more or less, since day one, and has poured so much of herself into this business. At this point, it’s safe to say she’s more than earned the right to roast Ron as much as she wants.

I chose this photo to share because of the apple that was a gift from my former boss at the place where I worked before taking ownership of Spectrum. That job was where Courtney and I first met and worked together. When I left to start this new chapter, she came with me.

It’s a simple photo, but it represents something really special: the roots of our journey, the loyalty we’ve shared, and the trust we’ve built over time. From day one, Courtney has believed in this vision and stood beside us through every challenge and change. And that kind of loyalty? It’s rare and it means everything. 🩵

Today we recognize all of our caregivers alike. Being a caregiver is so hard and often misunderstood. We sign up for this because we want to help, we want to take care of people in need and we want to support the communities that need us. We don't always sign up for what we get, though.

Please take a moment today to pat yourself on the back. Remember why you're in it and what keeps you coming back. You're strong and you're meant to be doing what you're doing. You're a light for so many and we see you!
